Well I'm more than likely getting rid of my sig sauer, one its too big and 2 I dont need a super expensive handgun (let the bashing begin !)

Anyways I was going to start looking at a new 9mm and have gotten down to these 3

G17 Gen 4 (adjustable back strap)
ruger SR9
Steyr M9A1

which of these would be recommended for smaller hands and have the better trigger (for some reason I just cant shoot the sig well either single or double action)

I loved the walther P99 I used but am not wanting to spend that much

thanks in advance!!

discount the steyr right off the bad - always seen this one end in tears

glocks are not bad, also don't forget the s&w mp9. if you have your heart set on polymer frame - these are the only real contenders.

sr9 is not bad for what it is but does not belong on the same list as glock and s&w.

I can't speak for the other 2, but recently shot a friends gen4 with no backstrap, the med and the large. With the no back strap "small" option it only seemed slightly smaller than my sig p226 (e2 grips). I know you've narrowed it down to 3, but have you considered the m&p 9? The range kits are a great deal and the gun felt amazing in my small hands. I still regret selling it.

Shoot safe.

Sorry I don't mean to hi-jack the thread...
I am also in the market for a 9mm. One of the 3 I've narrowed down to is the Steyr M9A1. Could you please expand on your commend? Thanks.

Glock 17 Gen4 choice one. S&W M&P 9 choice two. These should be your no disappointment choices. Some of the off- shore SAM,Nork etc 1911 framed pistols in 9mm, with the SAM in Commander config in 9mm, might be worth looking at as well if you are a plinker. IIRC the 1911 seems to be smaller in my hand than a 226.

I don't know who on earth will have a smaller hand size than me. but anyway I have 2 G17 gen 3 without any problem. Steyr M9A1 is a great gun but for some reason three out of four user will end up sell the gun. I also had a Ruger SR-9 and It was the most under rated handgun imo. the grip is very comfortable for small hand and the trigger reach is short. THe best buy nowaday.

I also have small hands (size small for gloves), I've found the 1911 to have the smallest grip out of those guns. In addition you can get slim grips for the 1911 to further slim down the grips if you wish.

I have smaller hands and the g17, m&p9, 1911's all seem to fit nice to me

+1

The E2 grips + SRT transform the Sig into a completely different animal. I have smaller hands as well, have a G17, 1911, but the Sig w/ E2 grips + SRT is by far my favorite. I'd suggest you handle one in person before you give up on the Sig!
