Best 9mm for smaller hands

Sorry I don't mean to hi-jack the thread...
I am also in the market for a 9mm. One of the 3 I've narrowed down to is the Steyr M9A1. Could you please expand on your commend? Thanks.

my experience with these have been other shooters in IPSC, of the two one was with me in my BB course and couldn't finish cuz the problems he had with this pistol - while the shape looks great and implies a high grip (lower bore axis) - it just feels awkward - add to that the trigger is not all that smooth

Well I'm more than likely getting rid of my sig sauer, one its too big and 2 I dont need a super expensive handgun (let the bashing begin !)

Anyways I was going to start looking at a new 9mm and have gotten down to these 3

G17 Gen 4 (adjustable back strap)
ruger SR9
Steyr M9A1

which of these would be recommended for smaller hands and have the better trigger (for some reason I just cant shoot the sig well either single or double action)

I loved the walther P99 I used but am not wanting to spend that much

thanks in advance!!

Sig has one of the best single action triggers around... you should have bought the P239 which has a short reach, single stack grip and excellent SRT trigger. Go for a CZ75 or 1911 in steel. Glock 17/19 or M&P in polymer.

I just sold my P239 as the grip was a little too small for me and I couldn't justify keeping it with my 226 Elite and Sig 1911.

My wife just stole my M&P 9mm as it fits her hand perfectly with the smaller backstrap and she loves the weight vs. my CZ75. Worth a look as the ergonomics are excellent and it seems to have been designed looking at Glock and adding some additional features.

have you tried changing the grips on the p226.
e2, hogue g10, nills (all very slim grips) that might be easier for you to hold.
maybe you need a short reach trigger?

This. I have small hands too. With the short reach trigger installed, SA and DA pulls are very comfortable.
I imagine slim grips would make things even more comfortable

Here is something that isn't on your list but sure fits what you are looking for... how about a NEW surplus Tokarev in 7.62x25. The grip is similar to a small framed 1911, and the gun is inexpensive to buy and shoot (less than $250 for a NEW gun!) and there is ammo available though not as readily as 9mm food.

just an idea.

I have a SR9 and have nothing but good things to say about it. Highly recommend it. The Tokarev is ok as well, not really my type of gun and has some FTfeed issues but is really fun range toy.

I would put my vote on a CZ 75 or the SR9. Although the CZ feels small in my hands, I have much better luck with it than the Ruger...emphasis on 'luck'!

I have over 1000 rounds through my Tok, never a failure to feed yet, but true not all surplus guns are equal.
FYI, they did make the Tok later on (Chinese T-54) in 9mm...
