Best 9mm for under $800?

Hey guys, looking to get my first handgun. I've narrowed it down to 9mm being best for price/power cartridge. Here are my finalists:

Glock 17
Cz p07
Steyr m9a1
Smith n wesson m&p 9

I want a light polymer tactical looking pistol that's reliable and easy to clean as well as a low barrel axis for fast shooing. Are these good choices or am missing something that's better for the price.
 
The CZ75 is a good pistol but you will not get the low barrel axis you are looking for from it.

I have an M&P 9 and it has been great although the magazine disconnect saftey is annoying(although you can purchase it without one if you look hard enough). The ergonomics on the M&P are what in my opinion raise it above the rest(I have not shot or handled a Steyr M9A1).

The Glock speaks for itself, however I pesonally do not like the European grip angle compared to the more 1911 style on the M&P. Also I do not think that there is any difference in reliability between the Glock and the M&P.

In terms of other choices, the Ruger SR9 is a great pick from what I hear. It is also less expensive than all the ones you have listed. On that note consider the fact that if you spend less on the gun you will have more money for ammo and I believe that the M&P and Ruger are just as good quality as any of the other firearms you mentioned.
 
try them all and see what fit your hands.

5. SW M&P9

Somewhere, on another thread, maybe in another forum, possibly in an alternate universe, somebody said that the 1911 copied the Glock grip angle perfectly.;):)
 
I hear the Glock 17 and the M&P 9 compared allot and the debate often comes down to ergo's, grip angle, trigger pull and, of course, how you shoot with it. Probably best to find someone who will let you try them out. Good luck with the decision.
 
Personally I feel you can't go wrong with a CZ.

You mentioned the P07 in your original post which is a great polymer offering from CZ. I used to have one and loved it! very comfortable, accurate and very little felt recoil. I did end up selling it though but it's only because i'm very picky with looks. I didn't like extra barrel length sticking out, also mine had the famous 'frame bulge'. very minor and was cosmetic, but I couldn't get past it cause i'm uptight! ;)

definitely +1 for the CZ or M&P though
