I voted "else".
Do have a Beretta 92FS, but lke my CZ 85 much better.
Recently aquired a Norinco NP 29. Fun to shoot, fairly accurate, not a bad fit and finish.

M&P models are the way to go...i shoot IDPA and have thousands of rounds down the tube of my M&P 40 (owned nine mm as well) with no malfunctions whatsoever. M&P $600 approx, extra mag $45, fobus paddle holster and mag pouch $60 or less total from Israel , at your door in one week(ask me in PM if interested), IDPA membership $75 cdn, ok from wife on package- "priceless" By the way....i do own glocks, NP 29, etc etc etc ....and this gun is still the only one that i trust in matches ....they just work, factory loads , reloads, lead, jacketed, eats it all....if you check many websites you will see they also say dont feed your glock lead, only jacketed because if its rifling... on this i cant comment on the truth by experience .....interested in hearing others experience on that??? Good Luck..

Go try them all. One will fit you like a glove.

But, if you have any sort of class, you'll pick a SIG.:D (kidding, they are all good).

This Video made me Laugh! Laugh2

I am Happy someone has posted this thread, I'v been thinking about getting my first pistol as well. I Know that I wouldn't get a Glock, not because It's a bad gun, but because I'm not a fan of synthetic. You should probably decide what feels more comfortable to you, what you prefer Metal or synthetic. I love metal and wood but that's just me. A friend of mine has a Jericho/ Baby eagle and he loves it, he offered to take me out to the range to give it a try.

Lots of good advice here. Mine would be go to a few stores and see what fits your hand the best and go with that. I have a SP-01 Tactical and it fits me nice, a P229 Classic 22 and it fits me nice, I had a G17 (Gen 2) and it didn't fit me too well. I tried a Gen 4 and I may have to get one of those as it fits me very well. The M&P is worth a look as well and I really liked the feel of the CZ P-07 Duty I fondled in the store. I also want a 1911 in 9mm. Lots of choices out there and shopping is half the fun. I try to buy or upgrade one gun a year so don't think you need to break the bank all at once.

My vote for else goes for the CZ SP-01 Shadow best shooting 9mm I've ever shot very accurate in most peoples hands. The fact that it comes with three mags is awesome and the trigger is amazing for a factory trigger. When ever i take some to the range that has never shot a hand gun I always let them shoot the CZ first because it is such a nice gun to shoot and they have all loved it. My second choice would be the sig 226 or M&P9 I really like how the M&P shoots just can't bring myself to by a plastic gun!

Consider a Ruger SR9. Inexpensive but not cheap. They can be had for less than $500 brand new and are great little pistols.

I've owned a Norinco copy of a Sig, a Glock 17 and now the SR9. It is more comfortable to hold and shoot than the other two and looks better too. (IMHO anyway)

I shoot IPSC with mine and couldn't be happier. It's even gotten me a first place finish as well as several top five. :)

+1
I really enjoy shooting my SR9 and I have put tons of rounds down range without a single malfunction.

I've owned just about everything at one time or another, and have decided that I like Glocks. Not because they're necessarily any 'better' than anything else, but because...

  • I shoot well with them
  • I don't like manual safeties
Really, buy a half-dozen guns, shoot 'em all, and sell whatever you don't like.

The IWI Jericho 941 is the best kept secret in 9mm. The build quality and reliability is as good or better than any pistols on your poll.

thanks .Many people choose "else",what are those??Norincos???Norincos are made in China, and I worry about their reliablity though they are more cheap.someone says that there are little parts &accessories of Chinese handguns in the market.if Chinese handguns are wrong ,please buy a new one directly.truth???

Complete crock of ####. I just got back from the range with my Norinco commander and it worked fine. And has for the last 700rds Ive shot out of it. And they take most normal accessories if not all for there respective designs. Nothing wrong with a chinese handgun. There great cheap fun guns.

I'm always wondering if the Norinco owners ever did own a quality gun. I'm finding most of their product very cheaply made, nothing to brag about.

Reliability isn't 700 rnds. Plus I have a problem with supporting the Chinese national arms manufacturer.

Go through a couple thousand dry firings, about a 1000 disassemblies, put 10 000 rounds down range with fewer failures than you can count on 10 fingers and you've got a reliable gun.

Going on 3000 rnds in the CZ and still 0 stoppages.

You're almost due for your first slide stop breakage..cou:

I speak from experience, having owned 3 CZ shadows, ALL of them had slide stop failures at around 4-6k rounds.

They are great guns but far from infallible..

Ignorance is bless :slap:

You support them every day in auto part and other stuff you own "Chinese arms factorys dont only make wpns ;)"

enjoy supporting the commies every time you drive :D :kickInTheNuts:

As far as 9MM guns go my choices would be:

M&P either FS or the PRO (Much better ergonomics than the Glock and you can shoot lead boolits). Also has better sights. The Range Kit is a good buy. For $100 you can install either the Apex Competition Kit (3# trigger) or the Duty Kit (5# Trigger Kit) and have one of the sweetest shooting guns around.

CZ 75B/85 Combat/Shadow - great guns with an excellent grip, utterly reliable. Slide stops will break over time with heavy use. Easy to replace.

The Glock 17 if you can like the grip. The Gen 4 Glocks have issues and from what I understand Glock hasn't totally solved the issues yet. Maybe they will get the gun right with Gen 5.:D

Take Care

Bob
