Very interesting!

Have you looked at the Tanfoglio line? If you get their CZ clone in .45acp you can get conversion kits for the 10MM, .40.cal, 9MM, .22LR and I believe the .357Sig. NOw that is convertability!

I Have their "L" model in 9MM. Unfortuantely I am limited to the .22LR Conversion.

Next major purchase would be their .45acp gun and then the conversion kits.

In the back of my mind I was also thinking about the berettta magazine compatibility with their carbine (which I did not mention in my post).

That said the Tanfoglio is intriguing. Which model allows you to change between six calibres? Freedom Ventures sells Tanfoglio are they the only ones?

I don't think those kits would be chaep, plus at the end you'll still only have one gun...

I'd say pick a calibre you want and sick with it, want another calibre get a another gun.

just my $0.02

Freedom Ventures is the Canadian importer. Sean is great to deal with. You won't be disappointed in his service. I understand their are some countries in Europe that only allow two pistols to be owned so the conversion idea gives you several guns in one. I believe the conversion kits go for around $450Cdn.

It is my understanding that if you buy the .45acp model (frame is bigger) than you can get the conversion kits as described. The Model "L" I have is s slightly smaller frame and I am limited to the .22LR and I belive the .40cal.

Best to talk to Sean for details. The Tanfoglio website is rather sparse for info.

One of the guys in the US has a number of the kits and he told me he was very pleased with the conversion kits and inter changes them so often he sometimes forgets which top end came with which gun.

As an aside my Model "L" is a tack driver only limited in accuracy to my ineptness.

Fit and finish appears to be a cut above CZ, I have an 85 Pre B.
I have over 2600 rds through my gun, mostly lead cast 125 gr bullets (Lyman 355402) without a jam or malfunction of any kind. Tanfoglio mags appear to be a cut above the ones I have for the CZ.

"Best" is a highly subjective term, "best" for what, exactly? "Best" price, "best" accuracy, etc.

The 9mm pistol that has the best balance between the competing factors and is best all-around imo is the SIG-Sauer P228, because you can use it for pretty much anything you would use a pistol for with a better than average chance of success and they are not outrageously priced.

Unfortunately they're banned in Canada. :(

If you start talking about the best 9mm for target shooting, it starts getting silly. A lot of people say the P210, which is a very accurate pistol, but there are a lot of other equally accurate 9mm pistols nowadays that are a bit more user-friendly imo. But they are very expensive. The P226 X-Five, various top-end 1911s, the S&W Performance Center guns (such as the 952) and so on come to mind.
