Best accurate lever gun

Can some of you post pictures of your rifles, both pistol and rifle round shooters along with some of your loads or favourit bullets?
I am leaning towards another Marlin but in 30-30. I have a stainless GG in 45-70.
I also want a pistol caliber lever gun most likely in 38 Special/357 Magnum but have not ruled out 44 Magnum at all.
I was thinking of a Swiss Arms Classic Green but thought that two lever guns would be nicer.

back to teapot, yeah I'll put a man on that, pictures of my rifles and cartridges, sure thing bud, no sweat.

But if I don't get on to that immediately, there is this miracle called GOOGLE that has all kinds of pictures.................

Just like the personal touch, Doug. I like seeing what fellow CGN'rs use and what their loads are. I favour this wonderful site called Canadiangunnutz. Let's just say I'm biased that way.

Joe is still trying to find one. I have 2. Nice rifles. Seems to be hard one for him to find. My nemesis has been a half and half in 32-40, I have the other 4 calibers in an 1899C, that one is eluding me!

Of all my lever actions, the Marlin in 45-70 and handloaded 300 grain Hornady, gave me 1 inch outside diameter groups using ken Waters Pet Loads. I got one better but I compremised a loading that would work both in my SSK 14 inch Contender (3/4 inch for 5 shots, outside diameter with a Leupold 2X) and the Marlin with a Leupold 4X at 1 inch. The 45-70 will go and get anything to 200 yards with a clean kill. It was used on Buffalos with great efficiency!

Regards,
Henry;)

I just use irons on my Puma .454, but I am happy with it. It hits what I aim it at. I can even break clays at 100 when I am feeling rich.

Best of luck sourcing a Marlin 1894C new or used. They have quite the cult following and I waited a year to get mine. I watch the EE constantly trying to grab a second one...but it's a little discouraging when you see three WTB ads for the exact rifle you're looking for  Marlin cannot supply the demand for these...and with the issues I and others have had with brand new [think Remington buy-out], I wouldn't touch a new one again.

As to your questions, if you shoot rapid fire .38 specials the barrel just gets warm after about 100 rounds. Full-power .357 Mag will warm her up quicker but never to a point you would do throat damage. It's not like a sporter barreled centerfire that gets toasty after 5 rounds if that's what you mean...and that is the biggest reason I like to shoot it.

Accuracy is VERRRY mediocre at best. I have hand-loaded various cast bullets of different design, diameter and weight. A five shot grouping of slightly under 2" at 50 yards is the best I can yet attain. I have not even tried hard to print a group at 100 yards, and would honestly say that's about as far as I would plan on shooting this rifle anyway, a long range paper puncher it is not.

If you have any other questions Teapot... just ask:)

I'm with you on this! Personal touch is what it's all about.
Sometimes someone will ask a question and someone will reply with a url address, and say, "Read this."
I never read those. On this site one can read other peoples posts, then maybe reply. Clicking on a url address is completely different.

...just to add some of my other Lever gun experiences.

I have a Savage 99 saddle ring carbine in 30-30 that will print 3" at 100 with a pitted barrel.
I also have a 1950's vintage Savage 99F in .308 that would be hard pressed to do better than 4-5" @ 100 with any factory ammo. I couldn't be bothered to hand-load for it.
My Marlin 1895GS is very easy to load for and my pet load using a 350gr Hornady RN bullet will easily attain 1.5-2" @ 100.

Years ago I had a Winchester 94 in 30-30 given to me that was scary accurate. I never shot at paper much in those days but took a box of mandarin oranges up the mountain with me along with a box of 30-30 rounds and could pick them off at ease around 50-70 yards. Gave that one to my girlfriend at the time, and we broke up later. I wish I hadn't parted with that rifle.

I see it was the 30-30 you missed after the breakup, and not the girl!
True gun nut.
