Best Air Pistol for Grouse??

Clarified the grouse thing with an Ex CO friend of mine. Good to go. Now to find a pistol of choice and a holster. Shopping time.

Is it okay to hunt Grouse with a rifle/pistol, or does it have to be with a shot gun? Maybe I am inventing rules about bird hunting in my head.

I wouldn't use any of thos e"Performance Ballistic Alloy" pelets for anything....ever....there's a reason bullets aren't made of tin! Sure, they'll make your air gun shoot faster without any mods, but the cost is energy. With the lighter pellets, the further out you go, the less energy it retains. Plus, I've found that heavier pellets are generally more consistent.

Hello All; Love getting some grouse when I'm moose hunting. I usually spend a day or two walking trails, targeting grouse. But, I thought this year I would take an air pistol along in case I stumble across any when I'm focusing on moose. Any recommendations? Was thinking of a Gamo target, but I'm definitely open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I have been carrying an airpistol while deer hunting for a few years now so I can take some grouse while along the way. I have several co2 action pistols and a couple of them have removable magazines that hold the powerlets. I can keep the mag in my pocket to keep the co2 warm(er) and not have to worry about loss of (much) pressure when I go to use it on a grouse.

A Crosman 1322 with a scope or dot would be a good bet.

i've never found a pellet pistol that was effective on grouse , unless , as stated , shot in the head. That said , get a rifle with pba ammo and 1000+ feet per second ..... in fact gamo has one that breaks 1600 fps. OR! better yet , .22 cal CB shorts , which is what I use , quiet, decent distance , fun, perfect for lil bush chickens. just keep it in the truck unloaded, moose hunt , then either before or after the "moose" go for grouse for a bit, before sunrise and before sundown , just look for a trail with lots of pebbles, and pick them off
