Gettin' my 220 very soon and will be itchin' to take it to the range. I want to feed it some good ammo that is less likely to cause problems. What in your opionions, is the best all around ammo that you have used?

Winchester Winclean 115gr FMJ
American Eagle 115gr FMJ
Fiocchi 115gr FMJ
Winchester USA 115gr FMJ
Remington UMC 115gr FMJ

those are a few i've used and liked (in order of preference)

I don't recommend 115 gr. Go with 124/125 gr FMJ. I find Winchester (especially Winclean) and Fiocchi very 'snappy'. They must use a slow burning powder. My choice would be American Eagle (Federal) 124 FMJ.

I shoot Winchester Winclean 115gr FMJ but I’ll be reloading 9mm soon.

Hmm I don’t really notice…but still it’s only a 9mm how bad can it be? Btw I like to shoot the highest recoiling ammo I can find but only in less powerful rounds.

Weren’t you going to get a Beretta? :? Oh well Sig is a good gun as well… :)

I still am contemplating the purchase of the Beretta too. But when I act interested and say I'll buy something and then somebody takes a long time to reply, it gets annoying. I was going to buy a Glock 17 originally but the seller just dissapeared. The seller of the Beretta also takes a long time to get back to me. The Sig guy was very prompt and fast responding...and local. :D

I find the 147 winclean to be clean burning, but it leaves a cement like residue on the feed ramp that is a PITA to get off. I use 147 winchester white box all the time, less muzzle flip, goes bang everytime. Buy it in bulk, you will save money (not as cheap as reloading I guess, but I don't have time to reload)

I like the Winchester "White Box" 147 gr flat point FMJ load - Wild West has it for $85/500 rounds.

I'm sure you will love your P220...a fabulous gun!

A really good deal if you buy in bulk. Good people, very friendly.

I have been shooting a variety. I get most of my ammo from a reloader here in Vancouver, nice stuff. So far all 115gr

I find the Remington ammo very dirty, but it does go bang, I can get it here in 115,124 & 147 gr FMJ. I also shoot 115 gr JHP they sell

147gr is subsonic

I think my next batch will be 124gr

Sorry about this, the problem with me is that I own a business and have to travel when problems arise with my clients. I hope you understand that I can not work on a personal deal worth maybe $750, and in turn jeopardize my relationship with my clients that is worth significantly more. A couple of the guys that know me on this forum, will know how hard it is for me to get even to the range to shoot. Anyhow, sorry if I've made it difficult for you and good luck with the P220.

Justin

PS

Don't worry about the ammo, in your P220. I've had one since I first got my PAL and it eats anything and everything. Not one single hickup ever! Good luck!

Don't worry about it. I totally understand, I have had other people offer police refurbished Berettas that have sparked my interest, and those were the ones I was skeptical about when they didn't respond, I honestly wasn't referring to you. I knew you mentioned about your own business and figured that you wer ejust busy; don't worry bout it we should go up to N. Van when you got some time. 8)
