Best alternative for Small Pistol Primers

If you cannot find or run out of small pistol primers for 9mm what is the best alternative?

Small Rifle.

But may not ignite if your gun has a light strike.

I ran ~18,000 small rifle primers through a few different 9mm pistols over the last couple years. The hammer fired guns had no issues and the stock striker guns had no issues. Only had problems with light striker spring guns but also had issues with CCI in the same gun.

I used small rifle primers in my np29 and they worked as well as small pistol with no observable increase in pressure.

I only use SR primers for all my needs

SPP are the most common primers. If you can't find any SPP it's probably Armageddon, better prepare for end of times imho.

You can also load magnum primers.

Dominion small rifle primers from Canada Ammo work well for pistol reloading in my experience.

Remington #6-1/2 primers are only meant for low-pressure rounds like .22 Hornet due to their thin cup. This implies to me that they would also work for pistol cartridges without any ignition problems.

I used S&B sr primers in some 9mm. They worked fine in my HK SFP9 but caused about 10% misfires in my Sig P226..
