Hello,

I recently purchased a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow and have also recently sold it in the hope to replace it with a completely ambidextrous pistol. I already have a SIG P226 X-five mastershop and a DE .50 which are not ambi pistols and I loved the CZ but I desperately need to replace my everyday 9mm range toy with a totally ambidextrous one as I am left handed. I would like not only the safety but also the MAG RELEASE and the SLIDE LOCK to be AMBIDEXTROUS for LEFT hand use.

What is your opinion on a top of the line FULLY AMBIDEXTROUS 9mm? I would like it to be at least as accurate and good quality as the CZ. So far the HK P30L was recommended to me. Is there anything that rivals or passes this?

Also for you experienced left handed shooters any suggestions on top of the line completely ambi 1911's?

It's not FULLY AMBIDEXTROUS but I have no problems with my Sig P226. I flipped the mag release lefty (advised by Black Badge instructor that using trigger finger on mag release could be misinterpreted as finger in the guard by an RO not standing at the correct angle), but I use my trigger finger on the de-cocker and slide release with no problems. There is no external safety to worry about. Moving mag release required a screwdriver, an icepick, and 5 minutes.

It's just a matter of practice with whatever you're comfortable with.

Sorry but thats a bunch of bs. Ive been shooting ipsc for over three years now and after more than 40 matches and a few hundred practice matches ive yet to be DQ'd for using my trigger finger to push the mag release. I also know several other lefty competitors that also do the same without problem.

PPQ is best for me. Had a M&P, good as well, but slide release was VERY hard to operate.

agreed. the PPQ is an amazing pistol, ive never shot one but ive played with one in the stores.
i really like the paddle mag release but they have switched to a button on newer models and call it a M2.
im debating on picking up a ppq...i asked a shop when they thought they would have it in thinking i could budget for december then they said next week.. so i may miss out seeing that they are only getting 2 in.

also, ive got the m&p and yes the slide release is ambi but very tough to use, so i rack the slide.

CZ85?

Springfield XD as I recall, as well. I'm a lefty too and I just own a Girsan Beretta clone. I reversed the mag release, and the slide release doesn't really bother me.

I've no issue with the P226, righty-only 1911, or most any pistol, though, save for the TT-33 and it's 2-fisted magazine release.

Yeah, I thought so too but figured I'd give it a try. And I'm probably faster with the release flipped now.

Grand Power K100 - LOVE mine. Got it from my dead friend's estate and thought about selling it right up til the first time I pulled the trigger. She's a keeper!
