I have had some jamming with my new 10/22 I’ve been trying different types of ammo and Winchester’s wield cat hyper velocity has been the best so far but steal some jamming. (Note gun is clean)

What do you meen by jamming?
Are the cases getting hung up in the action "AKA" stove piping?
Have you changed the extractor with a Volquartson exact edge extractor. This is one of the best mods you can do for the 10/22.
I shoot CCI Mini Mags and have had no problems in about 3000 rnds.

I put 100 Rem Golden Bullets through mine, no problems... but man, those things are dirty.

I've got some Winchester T22 to try next time I'm out.

Like PC9 said, change the extractor. Easy to do, don't cost a lot and usually resolve the problem. I'm getting pretty good result with the Remington 22 Target ammo.

I tried the Federal bulk packs but got too many FTE's. The best groups I've shot were with Elay Match, but way to much $$$ for everyday use. Try some cheap American Eagle, they work fine for me.

??

The gunsmith in my town got thrown in the clink
So do you guys think a newby like me can change the extractor my self and is there a Potential for something bed to happen because of the shell not clearing the action

Very easy mod to do.It will cost about 12 bucks for the part.

I have 2 10/22s both needed a brick through them before settling down. Those bulk packs are inconsistent in loading you will actually hear the different noise levels from them. Remington Cyclone fed flawlessly through mine and now they are less picky. Winchester power points are very good also. AM Eagle good bang for the buck.

Ive been feeding mine federal cyclone since new without a single jam/squib/fte etc. im quite happy with with the ammo and the rifle.

Forgot to mention I've been using Butler creek 25 rounders with great success as well.

The only rounds I have never had FTF or soft fires is the CCI stuff and my 1022 loved the minimags. So does everything else I have, even my 1932 Winnie model 1906 pump. All I ever hear is bang bang bang and every one is just as loud and accurate as the rest. My CZ drools when I bring them out and they all shoot them real well with lots of jam. Got several bricks in the ammo chest. Good hunting loads too.

Call Ruger, they'll probably send it free, I had a bad firing pin on one of mine and they sent me a complete bolt assembly no charge.

I strongly doubt that calling Ruger will get him the aftermarket Volqartsen extractor he is asking about. A replacement Ruger extractor, maybe.

+1. This is my experience too. 10/22's don't settle down until after the first 500-1k rounds. Break the gun in before piling on the mods, then mod away.

Also, extractor's aren't really required on blowback action guns......:runaway:

It primary purpose on a blowback gun is to remove an unfired round. It may have a secondary purpose as a ejector, but mine runs without one and I've seen a Remy 597 run without an extractor too.
