best ammo for ruger sr9

What ever you can afford a lot of - seriously. Most 9mm's will work fine on anything that comes out of a box, dirt cheap ammo is what you want, and you want as much as you can possibly buy. It's impossible to be even semi-skilled with a pistol if you've never fired one.

Ruger's eat anything. When you start getting into the higher end pistols they can be picky. Try a bunch of diffrent types see what you like.

While I don't have an SR9, if your pistol is picky about ammo, pick another pistol!

While the Ruger SR9 sits on the more affordable end of the Canadian market, they are more a of a mid tier brand in 'Murica. There, the SR9 is considered primarily a Self Defense, CCW, night stand gun.

I really liked handling it at my local range and it was accurate enough. In the end, I justified the Glock over the Ruger for a number of personal & performance reasons.

I personally feed my guns with whatever I can get cheaply for range work. *The Federal Guard Dogs and Remington Golden Sabres are for targets who are stupid enough to volunteer themselves by entering my home uninvited ;-)

Your Ruger should have no problem blasting through tens of thousands of rounds reliably. bulk, standard, reloads, +P... ALL AMMO!

Can the SR9 handle +P?

And while I don't own a sr9. Just shoot it with whatever you come across. Cheap bulk ammo and shoot lots.

I believe all modern handguns can handle +p

I know mine do. Surprised it was so hard to find. Settled on the Remington Golden Sabres in +P (mainly because it was all I could find at the time).

Hornady TAP are also nice. The guy over the counter says they are essentially a +P without the label.

Hmmm...

BS detector was going into amber but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. They are nice, but to be honest, you are just maiming paper :jerkit:

I'm pretty certain that all full sized pistols and the revolvers chambered for 9mm that ARE LEGAL IN CANADA can handle the higher pressure +P ammo just fine. The only pistols I've read about where the maker states not to use 9mm+P ammo in them are some of the small concealed carry units legal in the USA...but not in Canada.

Not sure about best for accuracy as I've only been shooting at steel plates but I have put about 4-6 different brands of whatever was cheapest on shelf and they all ran great. Both brass and steel cased.

My SR9 eats whatever I feed it, including my own reloads!!!

It loves the cheap ammo, such as Winchester White Box, Canadian BDX reloads, American Eagle, etc.

It's the most reliable pistol (by a teensy-tiny margin over my 1911) that I own or have owned.
