I sifted all over the interweb. Right now I can only list the experiences of certain brands below. What I will describe is when anyone who owns an AR and pulls the charging handle, you will get a smooth non ratchety bed spring noise. When you shoot the AR, you will not feel/hear the "twang" or buffer spring because it is pretty well made/well used?. My experiences as follows:

Bushmaster: It came with an A2 rifle spring, I believe it was not bad
LMT: New and second hand ones ALL had smooth action, no buffer spring noise even when shooting them or pulling the charging handle.
DPMS: Rifle spring and it's not that great but very reliable nonetheless
Knights Armament: Better than DPMS, not as good as the LMT or RRA spring I have. Reliable as well.

For the record I changed one of the springs on my Bushmaster with a Rock River Arms (RRA) carbine spring and it is a VERY smooth shooter. Smooth when you pull the charging handle, smooth when the BCG recoils back into the tube and forward back to battery.

I hope people can add to the list of findings. Maybe it will be more smooth with use, I don't know but please be informative.
Thanks for reading!

Best setup I've ever used was the JP Silent Captured setup. Running it on both 556 and 308!

Stock setups I've used include KAC and DPMS. Prior to the JP silent assembly I was running a Spikes ST-T2 with a JP polished carbine spring which was very smooth shooting but still noisy.

The JP captured setup comes with springs to tune and a spacer so you can use it in either a carbine or rifle lower
