Hope this thread goes well...............

What are the best AR mags for function, reliability?

Read that Pmags are preferred. They function when they get hot (don't understand what it means....) and don't have miss feeds.

I have a bunch of D&H mags from Saskatoon Gunworks that have been 100% reliable. One Shot Tactical has an order of Pmags in that I'm leaning towards getting some.

Also have 4x LAR mags. Had a misfeed/jam with one part way through the mag. But other than that one time, pretty good.

I personally have had a few problems with pmags, but they almost all can be attributed to how they were pinned. When you find the properly pinned ones they work pretty good. My preference is LAR's though for function and capacity.

Used six PMAGs and two LAR15 mags a handful of times over so far. Only problem I had was when I rode the charging handle and caused a misfeed. I think PMAGs are probably the best bet.

P mags hands down
buy the p mags One shot tactical have they are pined to 5.5 and feed on a closed bolt no problem

Pmags are great, for metal mags the ones made by IWI are absolutely stunning, like a cross between an AR mag and an AK mag if it was made in Switzerland. They could easily double as an impact weapon in a pinch.

Depends:

I ordered 10 of the ones from Saskgunworks. Teflon coated and good reviews. $16 each. The reason I didn't order Pmags? Unti we get the ones that work in rifles such as the Tavor Ill be passing. I want my mags to work in all my rifles. If I was only shooting AR rifles then Id have a bunch of Pmags.

Lar10 pistol mags are a must for 10 rounds. Although some are getting 13-14 rounds 223 in 7.62x39 pistol mags.

Pmags hands down. Have had lots of steel and aluminium mags. Most good but never had a problem with pmags. As for lar mags if it wasn't for 10 round capacity nobody would buy em they are junk.

PMAGs are by far the best AR mag out there, all the ones I've used were pinned properly so no issues there. There are plenty of youtube videos where they show how indesructable they really are. they also feed the best of any mag I've used.

If you want a metal mag the HK 416 ones are pretty good. LAR mags obviously have the advantage of 10 rounds but I have had issues with the only one I've used.

I really like the LAR mags. I don't shoot my AR much but when I do the LAR mags have always worked 100%. The Pmags work good for pictures and cool factor so you'll need a few of those too....
