Best AR Mags?

Any mag that feeds reliably in your rifle is the best mag.
It's mostly personal preference.
It's harder to damage a Pmag though. And for $21 a piece you can't really go wrong.

I have 5 LAR mags for the VZ58 with magwell and they suck, more specifically the follower sucks and jams up. Pmags with their follower are fantastic in the VZ though

I ordered magpul followers for the LAR mags and I think this will make them 100% reliable

I just got an AR, but havent tested any mags yet. I am guessing Pmags will work great

Pmags.

My origional Lar mags work great but I have heard of issues with the new ones. The followers can be changed and that tends to help with the feeding.

The Beowolf .50 mags are awesome. No feeding issues, full size mag and you get extra rounds.

I like both the P-MAGS AND the LAR-15...both work great in my XCR and AR...
I like the P-MAG for Service Rifle prone position shooting off the Mag...
I use the LAR for kneeling, standing positions and CQB.
I also have 20rd/pinned to 5 P-MAGS, they work great as well...

I have yet to try my 10rd XCR pistol mags 7.63x39 with 5.56...may cause feeding issues I predict!

There was a link psoted on here I think to an article about magazines for military use.

In the article it claimed that when metal mags got hot, they would cause mis feed issues. Aluminum where the worst because they were prone to getting bent/deformed durring rough use. PMAGS seemed to function the most reliably. Was it a non biased article? I couldn't say with my knowledge or skill level.

I used PMAGS last time I was in Afghanistan, as did most of the guys who knew much about guns (and didn't mind spending money for reliability, knowing that if SHTF you want the best chances). I also noticed a lot of the American units were switching over to PMAGS themselves, I think they were purchased through unit funds though and weren't officially adopted by DOD. But I have no experiences with the pinned PMAGS, although as others have said the newer ones that are properly pinned are excellent. Also if the non windowed ones are cheaper then go with those, windowed PMAGS only start showing rounds at 5 so kind of useless here. But may as well get one or two for the cool factor.

I used to think Pmags were the absolute best, but lately I've been noticing that many of them aren't pinned quite right and you really need to hammer them into a magwell when the bolt is closed. Also, Pmags are definitely not indestructible. Personally, I've already destroyed one. They're better than cheapo generic aluminum mags, but they're not perfect.

I'd really like to try some new lancer magazines... They sound like they're nice.
