Some input needed here...
Thinking of installing a AR style tactical multi position stock on a Mossy 500. Did some research on the net but nothing conclusive.
Any of you guys have a brand you swear by for your black shotties? I was looking at the Phoenix Tech Kicklite recoil reducing system vs the Blackhawk one. These have been out for a while but not much out there I could find except Nutnfancy hates the Blackhawk one. What's the Kicklite like? It's pretty inexpensive and looks really cool. Also, any of you guys have a recoil reducing folder type stock you can comment on? Most of the folders are metal with no recoil reducing ability. I would like to know if anyone has one that can tame buckshot and slug recoil.
Thanks for your time.

I have a blackhawk one, can't complain but don't notice much of a difference with the recoil reduction stock.

I'd recommend going with an AR stock adapter and just running an AR stock. I'm currently running a Mesa with VLTOR stock and like it.

Thanks for your input Frumpy.
Looked up the VLTOR. Looks similar to the Kicklite without the built in recoil reducer. Hi Cal has the Kicklite for $119. Anyone else know anything about this system and if its good for the Mossy 500? Quick reloads, cycling, recoil reduction with heavy loads?
With all the pics of cool tactical shotties on this forum, someone must have some experience with the Kicklite?

Mesa adapter with Enidine hydrolic buffer tube. Unfortunately Enidine discontinued the tube for the civilian market, so used is the only way to get them now. Around $300. Worth it to me.

Well these replies are all subjective......
Some will like a certain one and others will not.
This is something you need to try.

Wow! 300 ponies! That's what the Mossy just about costs. Maybe I should have bought a Benelli M4. Semi autos would kick less.
I'm already in for a Surefire light and a Sun Optic red dot. Not sure I want to throw that much more into a 500. Thanks for the info though.

Phoenix Technologies Kicklite review? Anyone?

The mesa LEO stock adapter is nice, the dual QD sling points and the ability to use almost any AR stock or grip, the only down side is you might need to up grade your sights to ghost rings because the tube sets kind of high with the Mossberg version and it can be hard to get a good cheek wield-sight picture , YMMV.

Greenhorse,
Like I said, I run a Sun Optic holographic red dot now on the Mossy. It sits pretty high. Purpose is 3 gun tactical. (Therefore want a good recoil reducer) Never used ghost rings before. Are they both eyes open like a Reflex sight or one eye like a peep sight? The rear ring is quite large so I assume line up rear with both eyes open and quick fire?

if your that worried about recoil maybe pick up a 16 or 20 instead, there are some stock that suck up recoil but if your very recoil sensitive its not going to be life changing. Get a shoulder pad and or move to something smaller. Ive ran alittle 3 gun and have allways used a red dot a rmr or just a bead sight and practiced know what your gun will do when and where ive never been a fan of ghost rings and remember for most optics on a shotgun if it sits high like you said look into a high mount ar adapter im not sure if there out there for mossy yet but I had one on my Remington for awhile but sold it due to the fact I just didn't like it that much.

Hiya Skoal,
Recoil sensitive is a good word! Had my Mossy for 20 years now. Picked 12ga due to ammo availability. Not a real shotty fan so don't practice as much with one. I have a recoil pad installed now on a synthetic Mossberg factory stock but I still feel the hit after 7 quick rounds of 2 3/4 shells, forget the 3 inchers! Always looking for something to tame the kick. Another reason I want an adjustable stock is for the sling. I run a Butler Creek synthetic now and it feels awful. The thing slides all over my shoulders and carrying it cross shoulder feels worse. I want to see if shortening the stock makes it more comfortable or I might need a tactical sling. Ironic thing is my shotty ran stock for 20 odd years and since joining this site, its now getting accessorized! This forum is costing me $$$$!!!

Fab Defense makes a shock absorbing stock. As for me, I use an NEA AR stock adapter with a Fab Defense buttstock.

The FAB Defense stock looks skookum! Especially the pistol grip! Cost? Fits without gunsmithing? How's it compare to the Kicklite? The FAB site says to stay away from the recoil mechanism. Have you experienced problems with cheek pinching with that stock?

If you run a red dot ,you should be GTG with the mesa LEO.

GRS can be used with both eyes open or not ,they're a fast sight to use ,I find mossbergs GRS to be the best for me,the rear ring is just thick enough, it Ghosts out , but can still be seen in low light , some GRS the rear ring is so thin that it all but disappears in low light ,not good. they're better for longer ranges that a shotgun might be used at, but not really anything that you couldn't do with a bead ,just like I said ,if you use a Mesa LEO on a Mossberg you might find it hard to get a low enough cheek wield to get a good sight picture with a bead alone.

And, if you swap out the front blade for a Mepro light dot, it's kind of like using an Eotech.lol

As far as recoil reduction ,I use the Endine buffer tube or a limb saver pad , these are the ones that work for me ,haven't tried anything else , so can't comment much on that.

Hi Greenhorse,
Thanks for the great info on GRS. I've seen the Mossy ones and they do look rugged! I'm guessing that you run either GRS or optics but not both since the GRS sits pretty high? If so, think I will stick to the Red Dot.
You are the second poster to mention the Endine stock. Are they that good? They are super pricey and I'm not sure you can get one new anymore. Still thinking about the Kicklite since they are CHEAAAP! $119 with no machining is good for me! I will check for alignment with gun sight when I see the stock in person. Thanks for that tip!
BTW, know any good slings that work well with AR style stocks? Do you go 2 point or single point? With the 20 inch barrel and a full stock, the damn thing is unweildy to carry! I'm guessing single point off the stock would have the muzzle hit the ground constantly?
