Best Ar with a budget?

I want a short barrel complete Ar. I know I could do an upper only but I want it complete without swapping. Need is secondary I just want one but due to a bunch of other stuff I wanted/needed I'm on a budget with this one. Looking for input. I will be most likely changing the stock but otherwise minimal accessories/upgrades. 1k to 1400 max

Sr556? I'm not familiar so I don't know if they are good or not. I'll look at some reviews but they are piston and I see OK prices even new. I have a 16 dd and I agree as well on a used one.

SR556 is 16 inch barrel. It's a little front heavy but nice entry piston. Not an SBR...

I would respectfully disagree with this. Not all piston systems are good and there's nothing wrong with a DI rifle.

I agree, lots on the EE for $1400. Just sold this one a couple weeks ago for $1400. Not a short barrel, but Colt USA lower, IUR upper. I had a 10.5" upper I sold for $600 just last year.

1400 is a great starting budget. The ee currently has some good deals with in your range! And I'm sure some site sponsors would love your $1400. Get on the phone and see what you can scare up
