best ar15 for the money

You could get Questar to import a complete kit less lower from DPMS.....$499 for the kit, $100 for the importing, stripped lower here is $250 or so. Someone I'm sure would offer to help you put it together.....it's real easy anyway. Brand new rifle for under $1000:)

Gotta be the norinco unit!!!!!!!!:D

:runaway: Duck, sound of running feet. Where's my nomex underwear! :runaway:

(only just kidding, I built mine off an eagle arms lower and an armalite upper)

Stag Lower with LMT upper gets my vote.

+1 on that. Thats what I run too.

That said, if the quality of the Stag upper is the same as the lower it would also be a good choice.

Take your pic, RRA, Armalite, DPMS, Stag all roughly the same price and quality

Very generic answer Ponts, there are many specification issues which may cause issues from inconvenience to serious failures depending on who gun you get and its intended use, for instance.

DPMS from the guns I have seen and worked on do not.
Peen the stock retaining ring
Stake the carrier key screws
-some units do not have chrome bore and chamber
-use tight match chambers
-many use .223 chamber not 5.56
-do not use 4150 steel

There are variables in all the mentioned units except for
COLT
LMT
Some Stags (like the new barrel I got)
I think while most of us recreational users will never see a difference the fact that there are differences is definitely worth mentioning.

For a new guy who wants his first AR and may or may not decide to get into the AR scene as you are a brand new AR from any of those manufactures I quoted would fit the bill fine.

IMHO,

Canadian available of the
LMT
STAG
Armalite
Bushmaster

- however IF Armalite made a 1:7 version of their midlenth and used some other TLC I would rate them higher.

I wish LMT made a midlength (other than the MRP) gas system.
