best ar15 for the money

Armalite prices are great at wolverine supplies, you should check them out...

I called them back when I was looking and they didn't have any at the time. They're getting them in though.

I went with a STAG and I'm glad I did.

I hear them Arms East guys in Newfoundland might have what you're looking for. ;)

Been trying to reach you all morning. You in the shop today?

Your PM box is full, btw.

You got to be joking:eek:

For an AR under 700$ new? Whats to joke about. Would I go to war with one? No. Would I play with one as a fun gun, sure, some of them shoot remarkabley well. I understand there is no snob appeal to them, and they ain't pretty for the most part, but if you like that Viet Nam era look, (not for me really) you can't beat them, bang for buck. The one's I've seen and shot all worked quit well, comparable to any AR of the same period in function if not in looks. You don't have to drop 1500$ plus to beat up pop cans or what have you.:)

me too...

I read this post with the same questions, now I am even more confused. :(

Was decided on something from Armseast or one of the CQB packages on Questar's site based on the comments from various ppl and the reputation of these dealers.

Now after looking at all the pics and reading lots of threads on various forums....I'm thinking maybe to get into the LMT MRP right out of the gate as I will want to get some rails out front eventually with some of the other extras. So maybe pay a bit more up front and skip the modding later.

But then the uppers on Socom's site looks pretty good too with the VIS.

Maybe a LMT lower and Noveske upper???

I know I'm going to get something next week when the main shops are open from the holidays.....so I guess I have to decide what....:runaway:

I get flamed every time I say this, but I love my Olympic Arms AR. It's treated me right since day one and has a fit and finish that's just as good as any Stag or Bushy i've ever shot or handled.

from having 6 early OlyArms guns - and none working well -- I'd say you got a fluke...

Noone imports Oly up here due to their terrible rep.

I've seen a few of their early guns and they were kind of crappy. The new ones i've seen were all decent. My local gun shop( one of them anyway) is an Olympic Arms distributor, and that's all they carry. I'm probably gonna get a Stag 20 inch AR if I can find one. If not, i'll just get another Oly.

That said, if the quality of the Stag upper is the same as the lower it would also be a good choice.

What makes the Stag lower better than an LMT lower? I am running a LMT upper and lower. Just curious.

I could have made that more clear couldn't I? I didn't mean to imply the Stag lower was better than LMT. In fact, given the choice I would have gone LMT if for nothing else than the rollmark (the deer is kinda queer ;)).

Actually what I meant is, having only experienced a Stag lower, if the quality of their uppers was the same as their lowers, a complete Stag rifle would be a good choice for the OP (rather than mix and match like me). That said, you made an excellent choice going complete LMT...
