Hey guys I'm new to the AR game. Ive run the VZ58 forever and have never really strayed away from that platform as I absolutely love it. But I put a pre order in for the macabee defense and I've started to do some shopping.

Who do you guys feel makes a great parts kit for the money? and whats a good price?

Any trigger assemblies you feel are a great price for what you get? and whats a good price?

is the bolt carrier a super important part, and who do you recommend? and whats a good price?

Im trying to keep the build around the 2K mark, minus the $1000 for the upper and lower I've preordered

Thanks for your insight.

Cheers
Mac

Hey dude. For a lower parts kit that works well, is built well and not expensive, I would recommend a full DPMS LPK. You can get them from Brownells for like 45$ USD. Its a full package and comes with a basic mil sepc trigger which works fine. If you want to upgrade the trigger you can go as low as ALG ACT (which is great by the way) or up the Geissele, KAC, trigger tech or any other of the million options.
Get a good BCG!!! You will regret buying a cheap one. Its the heart of the firearm. Spend the money on a good unit.

Most parts kit either come with a gritty mil-spec trigger that I won't use or A2 style grip which I don't care for so I usually just end up buying the springs/detents/pins from either Brownells or Wolverine (DD parts). If you're sticking to an inexpensive mil-spec trigger, ALG definitely.

Best deal on a nice NiB BCG would be the Stag Arms for $169 from Arms East.

I used the BCM enhanced lower parts kit with their PNT trigger, got lucky with finding one on sale and wasn't much more than a generic lower price.

Lower parts kits are mostly all the same.
I avoid the complete ones with crappy grips and triggers. I've bought a bunch of the ALG LPK's from arms east for around 65-70 bucks, and then if you want an amazing but inexpensive trigger, the ALG ACT is the best bang for your buck trigger around.

Brownness just had some excellent sales on raptor charging handles, gieselle LPK, and gieselle hand guards. Has anyone ever bought those things from them and got them into canada?

Thanks for the input so far, i figured gieselle always been a trusted name and their parts kit was pretty much the same price as those ALG LPK's. Ill look into stag arms BCG, and ALG triggers though

When I did a couple of upscale ambi lowers, I went with the Spike tactical lpk. I happen to like the Ergo grips the kit came with as well. The trigger parts are coated and fairly slick. A $10 US jp trigger spring and the triggers were decent. Not cheap but if you like all the components used it’s less than sourcing individually.
