WHICH of the ff. AR'S is your choice to own and why? actually Im in the stage of getting one, thanks ( narrowing my choices to these 3)
a) bushmaster
b) stag
c) RRa
One last question, which cal. is more practical or versatile of the 2, 223 or 5.56?

if Im not mistaken, I can use a 223 ammo to a 5.56 chamber AR? but not the vice versa

Yes, you are correct.
But it doesn't matter, since 5.56 is not exportable from the 'states. :(

Consider Armalite, they are very nice (I have one).
Also, buy a flattop, it's more configurable down the road. A fixed carry handle limits your options.

You can if you're rifle has the Wylde chamber which can accomodate both .223 (SAAMI spec.) and 5.56 mm mil-spec ammunition. Most of the standard RRA models currently use this type of chamber. Some great info here:

Out of your 3 picks, I'd go with Stag (closest thing to Mil-spec you can get for the price). If you wanted a rifle length AR Stag's 20" barrel has the A2 Gov't profile, which saves you a lot of weight.

.223 will still work in a NATO spec chamber. .223 Wylde was developed as a tighter specification for better accuracy.

just a follow up question. what do you think of a stainless bbl, comparing to chrome line, let say accuracry, ease of maintenance, and maybe long life/ durability. thanks again,

When they could be had for a similar price to M15A4's (like when I got mine from Epps).... Colt LE6920/6921

In todays market...full on LMT rifle, you can do no wrong.

Shop around and buy what you want.

Myself I've got an Armalite, a Colt bastardized 9mm, and a PWA. They all go bang when you pull the trigger and I'd swap all the parts around if I had to.

Bushie- good track record, supplied some M4's to US military once upon a time
RRA- good quality, won DEA contract. Receivers are made and machined by Stag (I don't care what Questar tries to tell you.)
Stag- CMT supplies parts to a lot of the major manufacturers (including Colt). Best bang for the buck, closest to mil spec you can get.

You could just have a rifle put together for you. Pick the parts and components that you like from each manufacturer and build your ideal gun.

As for stainless vs. chrome lined. Chances are that you could not afford the amount of ammo and range time required to burn out either of them. My advice would be to go with stainless. It won't rust, and it has better accuracy. It has all the advantages of chrome lined without any of the disadvantages and is normally available in 1/8 or 1/7 if you want to shoot some of the heavier stuff.

Good luck with search and keep us posted
