Best available 7.62 x 54R brass

Any particular type ( other than Hornady of course) to strive for?
Or a particular type to stay away from?
It's for an M44 and an M39.
I'm leaning toward two brands to differentiate between carbine and rifle loads, just easier to know Brand 'X' headstamp is Carbine ammo IMO

Norma brass is the best I tried for my M44, I have been neck sizing the same 100 for 20 something loads. Every 5 or so I bump the neck but amazing brass.
I have had similar results with Lapua but have only about 10 reloads on the one batch I own.

Sellor and Bellot has super thin necks on the other hand, only got 3-4 loads before starting to split a few necks. Stay away for these, not worth all the case prep. Neck tension was also very light, had some bullets that would move with my fingers

now you tell me lol. have you tried PPU?

Best available... probably Lapua.
Next best... probably Norma.

I am using up a pile of S&B I picked up from some guys at the range. It's mediocre at best but it was free so whatever. I don't find they require any more prep work than any other brand though. Neck size, trim, load, fire.
I have had good experiences with PPU brass. I only have 4 firings on my current batch but they still look pristine and have good neck tension.

I've found Privi brass to be very good and priced well.

Personally I've stopped reloading for 7.62x54R now that MFS ammunition is widely available, and you can get 203gr SP for about $14/box.

or reload premium bullets for $10/box or cast boolits for basically the cost of powder/primers.

I think that sums it up nicely. Add to the fact that Privi also makes .303, 6.5x51,6.5x52, 6.5x55,etc, etc. for around $35.00 for fifty you can reload for quite a number of cartridges that if you bought factory would cost you considerately more.

Most of mine is Pvri Partizan Made in Yugoslavia, it reloads nice. I have some Igman from BiH that I haven't reloaded yet. Norma is my favorite but also the most expensive.
