Presently, I have a Rem 700 SPS Varmint in .308. I have replaced the stock with a Hogue stock, and the rifle has the Remington adjustable trigger. I have it down to about 1.5 lbs and it is quite crisp. I may bring it down a little more, but I don't have a lot of feeling in my fingers, so I can't go a heck of a lot lighter, as I will lose all control on the gun. The optics and mounts on it are adequate for the time being. The barrel has fired less than 500 shots, so it should still have a lot of life in it. Presently, it groups about 1/2 in. fairly consistently when I do my part.

Here is my question - I am looking at putting another $500 or so into the outfit. It could be in the form of several upgrades, or a single item. I'd like to hear opinions on what you guys and gals would put the money on.

I am shocked that neither Obtunded or Mysticplayer did not suggest a new barrel:eek: Spend your money on barrel, bedding and bullets in that order.

Assuming you reload
Lapua brass, berger or sierra matchkings, and 8 pounds of varget?

Or you would have one heck of a good start into a reloading setup for 500.
