The Nikon Monarch 8x42 are awsome for around $400... comparable to the Bushnell Elite which are about $1000 more... and with a 25 year warranty, you won't have to worry about getting another pair for a while!

I just bought the Vortex Stokes Talon 10x42 from Cameraland (for $129US - see his ad in dealer section). Highly recommended.

Had a set of 10x42 Bushnell Legends that some obviously wanted more than me. Went missing off the dash of my truck. Note to self, Lock your door!

I have the Nikon Action 7 x 50's and really like them. $75 at Cameraland.
I bought them for $100 at SIR many years back. I don't think they made Action Extreme back then? or SIR didn't have the Extremes until the next year, (for more money).

They are sharp and bright with multicoated aspherical lenses. May not be all glass though? I'm not sure how they keep the price down like that.
