Im looking to spend about 400. I would like it to be a 12ga 3inch shot pump action. I would like to customize it a little after purchase (saw pistol grip maybe a light thats about it). This thing will be getting ALOT of use, around 100 a week...So durability is a nice thing to have here... Any ideas ? Should I fork out some more cash ?

I wouldn't worry so much about the 3" capability and buy yourself an older Remington 870 Wingmaster with a plain barrel. Have the barrel cut to 18.5" or 20" and add a 2 or 3 shot mag tube extension...that's it!

I like the Mossbergs. First 12 gauge I used was my father's 400G, and I bought a 535 ATS (Model 500 action) about 7 years ago. Has never given me a problem, and I go through a pile of shells every year. Fit and finish is what you'd expect for a $400 investment, but to this day, it is still as reliable as the day I bought it.

Best bang for your buck, a doe.

I'm not good at drawing, but I can try. :)

Edit to add;

The best bang for your buck is probably a Maverick 88 combo, if it's still available. It comes with 2 barrels. It's made by Mossberg and is compatible with any 500 series accessories with the exception of the foregrip.

I've only put ~3000 rounds through mine, but I trust it cause it always goes boom.

Used older shotgun FTW, made before the days when "pump" became synonymous with budget shotgun.

Everyone that's new to guns seems to insist on buying new, but a used pump shotgun can hardly have much wrong with it that isn't immediately obvious and an easy fix, and you can get an awesome piece of machinery for less than $200.

I wish I had gone that route for my first pump.

What ever you do stay away from the 870 express i have one their finish is crap and i hate the plastic trigger. Id go with a norinco hp9 you can get an 18, 14, 12.5 and 8.5 barrel they come with a plastic trigger group but maybe swap a wingmaster one in?
