I've had good luck with the allum Nikon rings made by warne(now vapor line) for rimfires. Would buy Talley almost always for centerfires. One piece and lightweight. Plus they are cheaper than buying separate rings/bases for most setups.
The rifle makes a difference, for eg the Xbolt and Tikka/Sako rifles take their own oem rings.
For standard weaver style rail I like the Grand Slam steel rings, can get them in choice of heights from $45
Vortex rings...best for the $$.
I also like the Millet Tactical in 35 mm but I don’t think they sell them anymore.
No matter what brand from cheap to expensive I have used, never got a ring failure.
But, If I was setting up a rifle to compete or for the hunt of a lifetime, the best rings for the $$ will be the most expensive I can afford.
Best bang for the buck is those weaver steel rings that wrap around.
There are better rings but if bang for your buck is your concern I don’t think you can beat them.
