Best batch of M14s over the years?

I'm happy with my US import marked(CJA) 2007. One shot kill on clays laying on the 200yrd berm off the bench. Thats with an old scopechief to boot! Only thing done to it right now is shims, SS spring guide and op rod indexing. With the rear sight cranked all the way down I have about 1/8th in. clearance.

Assembly quirks and the typical things like bung rear sights, off level front sight bases, off index barrels and loose oprod guides are the norm and what you can expect from a 400 to 500.00 rifle. Welding and wierd machining where it shouldn't be are new "quirks" and in my opinion, safety concerns.
I've seen original , formerly full auto capable, polytech receivers, that were modified to meet "converted auto" status. The areas milled off were barely visible and no welding was done to fill in the mid point oprod take down notch. Any milling and or welding would mean a rehardending after the work was done. Do we trust that chine got this right before sellin a container for dirt cheap prices?? All I can say is hmmmmm , and I'll be hangin on to my pre 2010 import rifles a lil tighter :D

I have a 2007. Great trigger and reliable, but the gas cylinder was out of alignment, so when I had the barrel chopped it had to go in order to mount a gas lock front sight properly.

Also, now that I look at the new threads they seem off to one side, but lined up with the bore. It would seem that the bore is not exactly center in the barrel. I didn't even know this was possible. Indexing is a hair out and rear sights won't come off.
