I just got a new box of Crossman's and a new box of Daisy's. Using my old slide calipers I found that within each brand and between brands there was lots of variation in diameter and some were out of round.

Anybody have any tips on getting tight fitting, uniform and true round steel BB's? I'd use lead but they will not feed properly through the magazine of my Mac.

Thanks

Paul beat me to it.

I was also going to suggest RWS.

I went to buy some BB's for my cousin to use with the Umarex Sa177 I bought for her. I was going to cheap out and buy some Copperheads but the store was out so I bought the RWS.

First she shot some Daisy BB's I had and was WAAAAAAY off target. I thought to myself she usally isn't that off, so I tried it also with the Daisy BB's and I too was nowhere near the centre of the target.

I was thinking the gun was a piece of crap. UNTIL I loaded in some of the RWS I had just bought.

Needless to say the rest of the Daisy I had went in the trash, and I will be buying RWS from now on.

My order went in today. Your vote of confidence in them has me really looking fwd to trying them as my Airmak is already ridiculously accurate for a bb gun. Bet I'm going to get some seriously enviable groups now. Lead bb's shoot super good but this gun will not feed them as the mag spring pushes them out of round and they jam up. I'll sitrep back when I get them.

Interesting developments. I got the RWS bbs, and they certainly look good, but after some testing I came in for a surprise.

In my Airmak, I shot several groups at six meters using these new RWS, Daisy, Crossman and H&N 4.50mm lead. The RWS, Crossman and H&N all averaged 3cm., but to my surprise, the Daisies shot half that, with several one hole groups.

Just goes to show that each gun has it's own preferences and you can't always go by what you THINK should happen. It's weird because as I said originally, the Daisies show size variability and some small anomalies, but still shoot the best out of this particular machine. Ya just never know, eh?
