Best Beginner Pistol (Opinions)

Interesting discussion, For myself I went the .22 route with a SIG 226, and picked up a 9mm conversion kit the same day all for cheaper then the SIG 226 in 9mm. I figured 2 for the price of 1. Having shot in both configurations the balance the SIG has with the 9mm kit is much preferred. My wife loves shooting in the 22 configuration. Which she does while i take on the 100 yrd target with my iron sights and my trusty SKS.

A 9mm Luger that belonged to a relative, then a 44 Mag because I thought they were cool (hey, it was the 70's, Keith and Dirty Harry were big), then a quality 22 (Ruger Target Mk II). If I were to do it again, I'd start with a good 22. - dan

There is a indoor range in gormley called target sports. Go there and you can fire any handguns they have there even without a pal.

S&W M&P 9mm.
Lots of accessories, reliable (I ran over 4000 rounds through my vtak and it never failed me)
Affordable and with the interchangable grips it will likely fit your ergonomics better than other
more affordable options. Also its not to bad looking and I prefer the scalloped serrations.

You may want to have a serious look at the Glock 17 purchased with the Advantage Arms' 22 conversion kit.

If you like Glock, that would be the way to go.

Since it's your first HG and you are new to the game, buy something you can afford to feed!
