Best binos with RF and AB?

Hey Adam,

Any reason you wouldn’t include the Leica Geovid Pro AB+ on that list? I have vanishingly limited experience with any of them, so just curious.
They are very good. Awesome glass. Perhaps I should have. But the ballistic calculator is very, very slow and limited as far as the head-up display, buttons, and features.

I approach this from a NRL Hunter match perspective. The Geovids are a handicap in a NRL Hunter match. The three that I listed win the matches.

Lot of great info on here from users with on hand experience! Some excellent points made about certain features. The x mounting system is a real bonus and well thought out.

adamg,

Good to know. I’d read the newer Pro AB+ are faster. Thank you for your input.

Shooting my first NRL match this summer. I’m sure it’ll be a riot, with lots of humiliation/learning. My setup will be fairly trail park. 😂 I can not wait!

For binos in this price range, it's best to get hands on before buying, if possible. I'd say the 2 bets options right now for all around use are the Vector Xs and the Sig Kilo 10k G2. I thought the Vectors would be a slam dunk for all use cases in the 10x config with a set of extenders. Would cover field matches/NRLH at 10x and run the extenders for PRS. I got to use a set of them (can't recall 10x or 12x, I believe 10x) at the NRL Hunter Pro-Am in Az in January (my Am had a set of them) and I wasn't as impressed as I expected to be. I didn't realize that the aiming portion of the reticle wasn't illuminated and found that sometimes when ranging targets in dark/shaded backdrops I'd lose the reticle and my eye would be drawn down to the illuminated portion of the HUD. I also didn't really care for the button placement (mostly the range button) but that could also just be because I've used a set of Vortex Fury 5k ABs for years now. I've also used a few samples of the Kilo 10k G2 and quite like them, the glass doesn't have the horrible blue tint the g1s had and the laser and solver are super fast and they are super intuitive to use, but no etched reticle.

I think you basically need to figure out which features are most important to you and go from there as there isn't really a perfect option. I'm a big fan of having a milling reticle in your lrf binos, if possible, but that's a pretty niche use case (team ukd field matches) as you're still better with a spotter with reticle for PRS and the reticle isn't needed for solo field matches/NRL Hunter.

I had my VectorX 10x at the shooting range today for a NRL22 rimfire rifle match. First time having it outside and looking downrange.

I can tell you that the glass is mediocre and not the right choice for watching bullets fly in the air, or seeing hits on paper, or resolving subtle impact marks. I'd compare the glass to about a $1000 binocular.

Too early to know how good it is at ranging steel targets. I need to get out to a centerfire PRS range to test that.

Well thank you sir for that honest review… that is disappointing to hear… maybe I’m back to swaro’s again….
