Best Black Rifle Under a $1000

I guess I'm "mindless" because I started a thread asking experienced gun enthusiasts about my options for a black rifle under $1K. The thread I started was to find the best black rifle for my specific needs, ie coyote hunting.. I don't see why my thread is mindless and yours is so important. Not that you should care, djmay, but I find your openening sentence offensive and ignorant.

I sincerely apologize if I did offend you.
That being said- almost every week, there is 2-3 threads started on 'the best non-restricted black rifle under $1K', and as much as I try to help new members to the site (or new to the Black & Green Rifles Section), as they ask the same question, it does become tiresome, and I do find myself skipping over a lot of the repeat subject threads. At the same time, the search function isn't too hard to figure out. That being said, I won't excuse myself, because I am human, and sometimes, I do have minor laspes, and post a stupid, ridiculous question.

Back on the subject though:

PCC (pistol calibre carbine) or not, I'd say that Kel Tec's, and the CX4 are welcome members of the black rifle family.
Also- are restricted CX4's under $1000? Haven't looked in a while- could very well be.

I think NEA wins this one if they could just overcome the stocking deficit. I am wondering how long it will be i know alot of people waited more than a couple months. the specs on the NEA and the fact it is a freefloated semi quadrail handguard makes it the most worthy. thats why i chose to wait for one rather than get a norinco now. i looked at the norc in the store.I like the full continuous top rail and the look of the NEA. the norc it looked kinda ####ty but just the fact that i would have to buy a freefloat and do surgery on a brand new rifle made me decide with the NEA. having said that i just wish NEA would do a pinned gasblock rather than set screws. i also like the vz 58's

Yup- NEA pretty much hits it over the head.
That being said, if the CSA Vz58 7.5" were $300 cheaper, I'd be all over it with an AR magwell adapter.

Well I have to say that I have fallen in love with my CSA 223 with 11.5" barrel. Impulse buy from Wolverine for $399. Added the AR magwell conversion from Tactical Ordanance and now I love it. Its worth the $899 they sell for. Well made and easy to clean.

You lucky b**tard, how'd you pick that up so cheap? Would love one of those shorties but they feel overpriced.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Somebody call the wambulance ! :D

Under $1000 and a black rifle. The best is going to be an AR.

But... Let's go a different direction.

The CX4 Storm. Simple blow back with a decent shape and good build. One pin to break down into two equal length pieces. Although basically a large pistol carbine it's technically I guess a bullpup since the action does extend slightly behind the pistol grip. It uses 10 round pistol mags, and you could in the 9mm version use a 40 S&W mag 96F to try 13-14 rounds. Results may very.

They look cool, the build on mine is decent and even those not into modern firearms seem to like shooting them. Also you can use them on a pistol range.

The only real negatives that I have with the Storm is the web on the stock which was due to US laws and the hoods on the sites. They make mounting optics more difficult.

I'd personally recommend buying one used then getting a non restricted bull barrel put on it and having it as a non restricted. You could do this for a bit more than $1000 if you do very well on the original purchase. Probably cost you a bit more but worth it.

And you can further that direction change by constantly harassing fireball to rework the polymer like I un-thumbholed my SL8.

Beep beep Epoxy7........here comes the bus.:p

That would be cool. That being said I'm realistic. How are those gun racks from two years ago coming along?

Also never lend him a firearm. I lent him a SVT40 and I think he now considers it a captured firearm or was waiting for the long gun registry to end in order to claim squatters rights or something. But it doesn't matter because the gun rack it was going on is probably still at the lumber yard! :p

Wait, I'm confused. You want a BLACK rifle for coyote hunting? Did I miss something here? Since when has NEA's AR been non-restricted? Shouldn't a Norinco and NEA be restricted? You couldn't shoot yotes if you wanted to as it's a range only restricted gun, right?

Ya, I was wondering about that as well. Restricted + Coyote Hunting doesn't go together in the Great White North.

Says the guy who doesn't come over to my house to collect it.
