If you're just looking for an inexpensive hunting rifle, definitely check out the tradeex site and snag a husqvarna sporter 6.5x55. Solid rigs, will kill anything you plan on hunting, and won't break the bank either. Then you can use the money you save buying a husky and use it to buy some decent optics.
6.5x55. I am not too familiar with that caliber. I don't reload, it ammo widely available? In terms of optics, I bought a Nikon 3-9 off the EE.
Some of them are military rifles and some aren't. If you can get a commercial FN98 I think they are some of the better ones and the husky 1600's should be good too 6.5x55 ammo should run around $20-$25 a box, but I haven't bought any for awhile. There's so many I don't know how you would pick one!
Well, I would hate to pick one for you in case it doesn't turn out but I think this one looks pretty good although it's a bit over $400. I'm sure if you give them a call they would help you find a good one. You could spend a little more time studying the web sight than I did. I sure like these old mauser's I own 2 husky's right now.
6024- Husqvarna 1600 Series in 6.5x55. Very good bore. Features commercial bolt sleeve, side safety, factory drilled and tapped, hinged floorplate. Weaver bases installed. Was once side drilled but holes have been plugged. Open sights removed. Sits in a replacement stock. Trigger guard shows some wear on the finnish. Overall good to very good condition. $450.00
There is an older sako .308 on there for about $800 I think. That would be the best buy out of anything you could find, new or used. Of course it's a bit more money, but it's a great buy.
What makes that sako great besides the name?
I was just thinking, another good one to get is an enfield sporter. SUPER easy to find ammo for, and the EE always has them kicking around for $150ish.
