hello

i am looking for a really good book easy to read on reloading pistol rounds. mostly looking for old no longer easy to come by rounds like 10.4 It, 9mm styer, .44-40. rounds like that. not really 9mm p or .40 s&w new loads.

please let me know if you have any ideas. i am new to reloading as in i never did it before but just got my first press.

Well I can see why you want to reload! I took a quick look and noticed that the 1967 edition of the Lyman Reloading Handbook has .44-40 Winchester. I can poke around my errr "library" and see what else is around if you like.

I have been considering joining loaddata.com for $30 a year. I don't load any of the rounds you are looking at, but a search there for .44-40 brings up a bunch of stuff.
Any thoughts from the more experienced reloaders if this might be a good solution for JTF?

i guess what i am looking for is like european ammo. any books on that?
the .44-40 i know you can still buy so its not the first on my list but once i get more into the reloading the loaddata.com would be a good idea.

The 9x23 is definitely going to be a tough one. I have nothing on that one. In the worst case, you'll have to extrapolate from the closest similar caliber (.38 Super?), but start at a very low charge. Even if it doesn't make your Steyr cycle properly, at least you know you're at the low end and you can work up from there. Get a chrono for sure before you start this project.

I had LoadData for a couple of years and dropped it. Mostly its a convenient compilation of basic reloading info you can find free if you google. "Ammoguide" is a far superior service, and I do mean FAR superior for less $$. Do yourself a big favor and check out "Ammoguide".
