Best brand of powder for 9mm

I have recently started to use Universal Clays for 9mm lead bullet reloads and have so far had good results.

Trail Boss is not a suitable powder for 9mm, as it is too bulky for the case capacity available. Even fairly fast-burning powders like Bullseye, W231/HP-38, or Titegroup often fill up a 9mm case well enough that a double charge is easy to spot if you are paying attention.

Yep, went back and modified my post. There is no data for Trailboss in 9mm. I use it in several cartridges, but not 9mm.

However the principle of what I was saying remains the same. New reloaders should avoid fast powders like Clays, since small differences in charge weight or OAL can raise peak pressure dramitically.

New loaders have enough unfamiliar steps going on simultaneously, and they don't know what specifically to look for. After 500 rounds, a rythum develops, and they know where and when to focus attention.

If that is the case, I make up loads for my wife, who has very small wrists but likes to shoot, with either Bullseye or WW 231. Very good accuracy and very low recoil. Assuming, of course, that you have those powders. :D

It took me 2 months to find Power Pistol and I had to ship it half way across Alberta.... Finding anything but VV powders at $50lb or blue dot up here is like finding a golden ticket in your box of Speer GD's.

I will begin my quest after this weekend if things don't work out.

I like Power Pistol for 9mm, .40 and .45.

I looove it for my 10mm.... Flashy and loud with a stout kick!
