What would be the best brass for this conversion?
It's not much of an expansion, but I want them to last.
I picked up a Ross beater and had it converted to .303 EPP's so pressure can be a little higher in it.

I prefer Winchester to all other brands when forming my 303 Epps cases. I did make afew from 30-40 Krag [Winchester] brass, but it is a bit more work. Easiest to just load a full 303 British load and fire away. Perfect case every time. Regards, Eagleye.

303 Epps brass

I got some Herter's headstamped brass from Higgison for my 303 Epps. Excellent quality stuff made by Norma. I partially fireform using 10 grns of pistol powder and oatmeal, then load real bullets for final forming. I use the Herters stuff to keep in separate from my other 303 loads. I agree that Winchester brass is good stuff (white box FMJ cartridges) or just virgin brass. Regular 303 Lee collet die works well if you do not have Epps dies.

I bought some 210 grain cast Gas Check bullets from someone on the EE. They are sized at .315", and shoot very well at about 1600 fps. I am using IMR 3031, but since I am at work, I cannot access my notes to tell you how much.
In response to the feeding issues, I cannot speak for the Ross, but I know that in my P14, the feedrails needed some delicate reworking to feed the straighter Epps case. My rifle feeds both spitzers and RN's perfectly now. I had Bill Leeper do the basic work, and I tweaked it a tiny bit after I got it back.
I am using RL15,Vihtavuori N540 & N150, W760, Higginsons 47N, and Ramshot Hunter in mine. All these work well with many loads in the moa area. Regards, Eagleye.

I'd be interested in how you get 303 Epps to feed in a Ross.
BTW, a max load of 4350 gets you about 2700 with a 174 grn SMK

I put a Ross Magizine in a 303 AI I built on a No. 4. I ground back the lips at the top of the magazine until it would just hold a cartridge, and polished them until they did not scatch the cases, it feeds like a machine gun.
