Staying in 35,000 - 37,000 range is there a particular brand of brass better suited for higher pressures.
I have Starline, Federal and Winchester. Suggestions, comments and experience greatly appreciated.

I would pick Starline and Winchester over Federal. General feedback is that Federal brass is softer, whick makes it a poorer choice for higher pressures.
Start out with new brass if possible, that will also maximize your safety margin and avoid prior firing issues like older balloon-head cases, excessive headspace, etc.

There is enough of a difference in case volume between brands to make a difference pressure wise. For top end loads I'd stick with what your reloading manual says to use. Winchester brass is fine. Hodgdons loads the .45-70 pretty hot in their lever guns section and they specify Winchester brass. I've shot some pretty heavy loads from their manual out of a Ruger #1 in .45-70 and had no issues with Winchester brass.

I do believe that the previous poster is right about the Federal brass being softer. It also has less volume than any of the other brands.

Chris.
