Best budget 1911 no norincos

Well I did say no norcs in o p

Fair enough. You shouldn't have to repeat yourself. Repeatedly.

Now we know your budget tops at $800, you should have some good used options.

You want 9mm though, so I personally have no idea.

Do you need a holster and extra mags in that budget, too?

Buy used.

I ran 90k through springfield loaded target and 50k through a springfield RO
Smoothest 1911 i've owned and still shot accurately for competition.

Regardless, I would only consider used at that price point.
Sam and kimber are junk if you intend to shoot the gun. Theyre fine safe queens.

Norinco's like it are not are better than $1200 frames if you drop it off to a good smith for $300 of fitment. Great steel.

I sold my 90k springfield for $500.

I've shot out sti dvc's, springfields and sti in 40 while training for ipsc nationals and a ipsc worlds team slot and have done all my own work to perfect reliability.
I actually have an extensive bit of down range experience with 1911's, if you have serious questions send a dm as I probably won't follow the thread.

Most important, buy what you want even if it means saving another 2 months.
You'll keep it longer and you'll want to shoot it.

Yes I was thinking maybe a used Springfield or ruger guess I could go to 900 thks

OP:

I can't comment on the 9mm bit, but my Remington R1 stainless in 45 has been fine for me, so far. Only a few hundred rounds throught it, but no problems. I suspect the price has gone up since I got mine, and I don't know if they make one in 9mm.

Unless the Op means, 'No Norcs', bcuz it's Political to him, then ya, Only buy USA or Canadian made, bcuz I'm sure one could find question with others more-so. I don't like Liberals or turd or Biden..but am I Not going to buy a Canadian or U.S. Made firearm?

Guess it depends if the Gov. is controlling or is it an independant Enterprise? Lots of Budget 1911's made in Philippines, & is pretty bad {politically} there too, does the Gov. control the factories?

Philippines, are Rock Island, Iver Johnson, & S.A.M. Taurus is Brazil..Russia is good now? Not sure if OP is asking bcuz he hates China, but is Ok with Philippines etc..or just hates Norc for some reason.

All the Norinco's Ive had had been Excellent. Unless you buy Local, & spend more than "Budget friendly" amount $, you can't control all these Foreign Regimes making guns that sell in Canada.

There are 3 1911 makers in the Phillipines, Armscor, SAM, and Metro Arms. They are all sold in the US under various different names. Armscor made the entry level STI single stack 1911's for example, Spartan line. RIA are also made by Armscor, and Citadel brand as well.
Metro makes the American Classic line, they are probably the highest end of the 3 makers.
SAM makes the Iver Johnson line and the ATI line.
Google those for reviews if you want to look into them further, reviews are good for all of them for the most part.
Norinco use to make decent 1911's, everything was forged and milled steel, they were loose and sloppy but worked fine, now they are filled with Chinese MIM guts, and Chinese MIM is bottom of the barrel.
The STI Spartan was a really good pistol, lots of features and built to STI specs with STI guts, I still have a VI Commander in 45 and it's very accurate and reliable, bushingless chromed bull barrel, reverse recoil plug, if you can find a used one in 9mm that would be my choice. They were a bit more then the SAMS but great out of the box. I don't have any complaints with my SAMS either, 9mm/40/45 but the OEM recoil springs were way too weak, I replaced them and the barrel bushings with EGW cut to order, and they are accurate and reliable and tight. Actually the 9mm commander SAM is all original, the bushing was fine, just needed a recoil spring.

Any norcs I have owned all had bad fit, finish. I heard Wilson used to build 1911 s out of them, but I am sure they refined them. I may have other reasons to not want a norc? But hey, how and where I spend my money is my choice and I won’t tell anyone else where to spend their money to each his own. I heard from a reputable 1911 smith that norc steel and parts are not what they were years ago? But to get back to my original post maybe 800$ is pushing it? So I moved to 900$. What about rem r1, I read reviews some hate them most say they are OK? What is their status will rem arms or someone keep building them? What about para, l see some used ones around. I guess I am thinking used for sure now that I understand what you get for under a grand in a new gun.

i really like my canuck 1911 9mm made in turkey. finish is better than the norcs i have and had but it is not a lasd for sure but not in the same league on the price ... but it shoots and eats everything i fed with ... plus he can carry a light.

If the choice of "No Norinco's" is a political decision, then buy a used one. That way there is no net increase to the pile. I picked up a used one for $230.00; looked new. Otherwise one of the brands from the PI, Brazil or Turkey?
