okay so im looking at buying the mossberg .22 tactical, there seems to be alot of mixed emotions on whether or not its quality is any good as far as the plastic components. the canadian tire here in belleville is selling them for 289, but they dont have any in stock. im considering driving to epps to look at one in person and possibly purchase, but i really want to handle one in person to make my mind up. im also leaning towards just saying screw the hassle and ordering a norinco jw-14 from marstar. im looking mostly for a semi auto, and i really like the jw-14 but theres not alot posted about it either. so my question pretty much is, is the tactical that bad? is the jw-14 any good? is one better than the other? and are there ny other .22's in that price range worth looking at?

are you looking for a good budget gun or something that looks cool? because the Mossberg & norinco jw-14 are not in my mind a good well made gun. that Mossberg is nothing more then a dressed up looking plinkster.... Yuk!!! piece of s**t.. if you want a gun to last a very long time and have some quality look at a Savage MkII, Marlin bolt, or Ruger 10/22 these are well made guns on a budget or get a older cooey bolt gun.
Just get the Mossberg. It has a regular Mossberg 702 action which functions just as well as any other budget semi so no worries about reliability. The mixed reviews mostly come from the stock. Since the regular 702 can be had for $140, the ATI plastic shell is a $100 add on which is on par with other ATI plastic shells. If you've ever held an ATI product before, you should know what to expect. It's not gonna feel as secure as the SR-22 or 597 VTR shells, but it gets the job done. If you're just looking for a fun, cool, and cheap plinker, it's your best bet right now.

Buy it, and then buy more. At least owning this will give you some sense of quality, that's important, more importantly have fun, enjoy your hobbies and share with others.
i have been looking for something just to go plinking with, and shoot all i want for next to nothing, i previously owned a ruger 10/22 and really liked it but i just wanted something a little different and fun to shoot. maybe if i feel the need later on drop the 450 bucks on a sr22 but i ont see the point right now, theres alot more guns i want to buy before i buy a 500 dollar .22.
i would like to know brocult if you have ever used one of these rifles, or if you are a nay saying because you are partial to different brand? and my personal expierience with norinco is that their products are very practical firearms for the price, yes they might no be pretty but they work, and wok well.

I own quite a few Norinco firearms there are others out there who own many many more. They are great guns, for cheap plinking I still do recommend the 795, I believe Le Baron had it listed at $140. May have been a rebate involved, you cannot go wrong with it, I've fired 2500 rounds through my, it only stopped for dud rounds.
Get a Marlin 795 [clip fed] or a model 60 [tube fed]. I had a Mosberg 702 and couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I still have the Marlin 795 and 60, and they are the most accurate out of the box semi .22 that I have ever seen.
