Going to buy a cheap 223 for coyotes ,, which under 500 dollar gun is the best, the Axis, rem 783 , or Ruger any others that I should look at ,, for value and also which ones are the most accurate ..

wait and get a stevens 200. I saw one recently on the EE. They always shoot decent, and have the 1:9" twist that makes them even more versatile. The weatherby has a 1:12" twist, so you'd be stuck using 60gr bullets or less. Not too big of a deal, but it is a deal-breaker to some.

Weatherby vanguard is 1:9 now as well. Vanguard and Howa 1500 not only best " budget" bolt, but best under $800 imo.

give it a week, you'll see a few vangaurd's with custom stocks hitting the EE

it doesn't hurt to try asking WSS for the sale price, I've had cabelas extend their sale price to me a few days after the sale ended

and I wasn't even aware the sale was over, the guys in the PG store told me they are on clearance until the inventory is gone

nope never missed the wholesale 399 deal , looked at it it had a 24'' barrel and was a little too big a gun for what I wanted to do with her ,, plus it was one ugly gun ,

You literally just missed the $399 Vanguard sale by 1 day....gotta be on the ball boy!

The sale is on until they run out of stock.

Compared to the other rifles you mentioned, the Vanguard is a superior rifle.

If you can scrounge just a few more dollars, keep a keen eye on the EE for a Savage 10 or 16 in .223. You will be happy with the accuracy, and generally the rifle overall for that price. I do agree though that as soon as someone who bought one of those Vanguards decides to sell it here, you should buy it.

Bought my little monsters a Ruger American Compact Stainless. 1 in 8 twist, easily modifiable mag to shoot 75's, and easily adjustable trigger. Ran a swab down the tube to clear the grease out, and the first 4 went into 3/4" at 105 yards.

Short and light and easy to maneuver for kids. A bit over $500 though.

Thanks all for the help mabe a ruger in my future,, or the rem 783 as I can get one under 400 ,, however it is still a couple of months away from coyote season ,, although the groups that axis shoots is real good

I'm in the market for a decent yet affordable .223 myself. I've been leaning toward the Ruger American Ranch myself... I just want to handle one before I buy
