It all depends on what you want and expect to get out of it. It is like any other firearm, only that the M14 culture is a little more niche, parts are usually rarer and/or more expensive...

You can buy a basic Rem 700 for about $500....but you can also build a 700 precision rifle costing easily 10x that.

A Norinco or Poly will run $400. How you approach your mods is entirely dependent on what you want to do with the rifle.

Why do you want to upgrade your M14 boomstick? I'm just being the devil's advocate. I'm hoping for all of you to spend your after-tax dollars wisely instead of pumping $ 1K into this platform only to realize that a $ 600 Savage prints nice tight little groups with a super crisp trigger.

If you said that you want to watch "Blackhawk Down", now that's a different story. You might wanna consider speaking to M14Doctor about an M14 Dummy selector kit .. ha ha ha

If you want to watch "Forrest Gump", they all you need is a USGI Walnut/Birch/Beech/Cherry stock from Numrich Gun Parts in NY ; and away you go.

Now if you said you want to go coyote hunting, let's yak.... we can steer you correctly here! yuk yuk yuk

Didja read the sticky(ies) I/we posted?

Peace be to journey!

Barney
