best bullet,powder load combo for 25-06?

Just picked up a Tikka in 25-06 and its time to give her a work-out and find the go to load.Any fan favorites out there?How about varmint,deer/bear and moose loads or do some of you have a one recipe do it all load.Feel free to post pics of load developemnt,range and game results.

You won't find a single load that is suitable to cover all those bases. Having said that the .25/06 seems to do very well with powders with a 760/4350 burning rate But you will need a selection of different bullets to cover varmints, deer sized big game, and a heavy for caliber premium bullet for larger than deer sized big game.

My most accurate load in my .25-06 Ruger No 1B was 47.5 grs H414 with a 100 gr Hornaday Spire Point bullet and CCI 200 primers. 5 shots into 13/16" at 100 yds.

My best deer load was 51 grs H4831 with a 120 gr. Speer Boat Tail and CCI 200 primers. I've only recovered 1 bullet. It was a frontal chest shot on a medium sized buck and the bullet blew up the lungs and chewed up the liver. The bullet expanded to .50 cal and weighed 69 grs. The buck just fell over sideways.

I use two loads in mine:

100gr Sierra MK - 53-55.5gr IMR4350 (depending on the lot), RP brass, Fed210 for 3312fps

100gr TTSX - 53gr IMR4350, RP brass, Fed 210 for 3300fps

I use the Sierra for practice and LR shooting, and the TTSX for close-medium range shooting and serious hunting.

My son's likes 54gr RE22/115gr Partition or 54gr H4831SC/120gr HP Hornady .Both loads cloverleaf and have accounted for several deer,a black bear and one bull elk at 400 yards........................Winchester brass and Fed mag primers.................Harold

I've had 3 .25-06 rifles and every one shot well with 53 gr of IMR4350 and either the 120 gr Ballistic Tip or 115 Partition, both (obviously) from Nosler.

Hello Steve,My most consistent load is 47gr IMR4350 behind 120gr NP.

That's my "go to" combo, with Federal GM primers. But put the Nosler's in front of the H4831sc, not "behind" !

X3 Retumbo works well with the 115 and the 120gr partition also.

I run pretty much the same TTSX/IMR4350 combo through a bone stock Sako 75 and it has proven to be a boringly accurate and effective load on antelope, deer, elk and moose!

I liked a 120gr Hornady HP Interlock over 52gr IMR 4831, Win case and Fed 210LR primer. Never recovered one from 5 whitetails shot from 50 to 250yds. 3000 fps MV. Through and through
