best cal for a 96

Amen to that, Bro. Mine gets 285 gr Northman cast past 2000 fps with no leading.

Where are those bullets available?? Any other 9.3 cast bullets/weights available? I have an PM inquiry sent to the cast bullet guy I deal with locally to see what if any selection for that calibre/bullet diameter he has and am waiting for his reply.

Northman999 who is a regular on CGN, and has posted to this thread, produces them.

He can tell you more about them.

Is your's a 96 or a 98? I'd have guessed 366 Wagner would be a little brisk for a 2 lug action.

Husqvarna produced the 9.3X62 in both models, while being fully aware of 286 gr factory ammo being loaded to 2360 fps. I have used a couple of two lug 96/46 rifles in 9.3X62 quite a bit. The biggest moose I ever got was with one that was mounted with an old Zeiss Zeilklein 2 1/4X, shooting a 286 gr Norma PP Dual Core bullet at 2300+. One shot and it was all over. That rifle is now in Alberta somewhere, as a fellow thought it was worth a lot more than I did.

Almost all of my '62 cast bullet load development was using another two lug model 96.

Loads as hot as 2200+ fps in that rifle were plenty accurate for hunting, with no leading, and brass lasted forever.
