Best caliber for XCR?

Looking to buy a used XCR and I'm leaning towards the 7.62x39 due to the availability of relatively inexpensive bulk ammo. Just looking for thoughts on this caliber? I have read that older XCR had major issues with magazines with the 7.62. Hopefully newer ones are better. I'm hoping to get a keymod version but I suppose those won't be selling used so much yet. What are the typical prices for used XCRs? I'm not looking for an MOA rifle as I have a number of other very precise rifles. I'm just looking for a NR semi to have fun shooting on my property out to 100-200 yrds max.

Thanks for your input!

my L is in 7.62x39mm , as long you adjust the gaz system correctly it will shoot anything , accuracy will be around 2-3 moa or less sometime , used xcr-l before the keymod version are around 2k i think,

they are nice rifle , mine have been going out every time i hit the bush

They're both good, if you're looking for affordable ammo (even with the raised cost of milsurp ammo) then go with the 7.62x39. I have uppers in both 556 and 7.62x39. Expensive rifles, but quality NR black guns are few and far between. Chances are you wont be seeing 1 MOA unless you're loading your own ammo and have both the rifle and ammo tuned (for 556 in L and 308 in the M line) Don't expect more than 2-3 moa with milsurp ammo, some is better than others. Expect to se pre keymod on the EE , and pay 1800-1900. Newer keymods , especially with recent hikes in prices will be around 2300-2500 used and that's for XCR-L's.

Keymod 762x39 for me. Just adjust the gas to your ammo and have at it.

Very reliable the current gen is with 10 round XCR pistol magazines.

Yes, get a keymod version and you are good to go - mine was excellent, would have kept it but my preferred range doesn't allow 7.62.

Everyone else is wrong, .223 is best.
6.8 is too pricey to shoot.
300blk is a fanboy cartridge.
7.62x39 is the worst,... because I'll have to share ammo supply with yet another ;).

I've been more than satisfied shooting x39 through my XCR. The feed problem do not lie with the rifle, but with the mags. A little tweak here and there and they'll function properly.

Mine isn't for sale, but if you insist, I'll take $3000 for it. It's very experienced and that has to worth something.

Me thinks you did it wrong if its been more than 2 days, let alone 2 months :p

No it's because one of the admins grilled me with 20 questions and when I told him my brother told me about the site, he insisted on knowing username and I didn't know it. My brother was working with me for a couple weeks but moved to the states for work and I haven't made it a priority to get his online details. It's really not my business and I don't think the admins either. It's not like I need to give the bank my siblings account numbers if I want to get an account for myself. It's really ridiculous! I joined this forum to learn and share with people who share similar interests and other that the admin's ego trip, it's been great.

People like to power trip on forums and groups and I'm really annoyed with people like that. I'm part of a couple RPR groups on Facebook and one guy was kicking half the people from the group because he didn't like what they had to say... It's funny how people act online.

Cheap x39 ammo for the win. Rarely use the 223 barrel, save that expensive ammo for the other 223 rifles.

Just sub moa with 6.8, but I reload. And I catch my brass. Heard a lot of good accuracy with the 762-39 in these, but I'm happy with my .556 and 6.8 in the L for now. My m is still a work in progress, around 1.25-1.6 on that one, but not bad for a semi .308 piston gun.

Haha, have you shot out your barrel yet?

Love my 7.62 x 39!

Bought it here on CGN. Great purchase. I have put about 1000 rounds through it in the past 6 weeks. Very impressed.

It's fairly accurate. I was out yesterday with 4 types of rounds checking if one was more accurate than another. I have all the targets saved and marked but haven't had time to give them a good look over yet. At first glance the copper washed mil surp seemed most accurate. Barnaul fmj maybe second. Lacquer coated mil surp maybe third and Winchester Fmj brass last place. But like I said I haven't fully looked at them yet.

Mine shoots anything on gas setting 1. Easy to clean after shooting corrosive. Great rifle!

Another 7.62x39 XCR-L Keymod owner reporting in. Other ammunition may be more accurate but 7.62x39 is so cheap and plentiful. I haven't used corrosive ammo in it because I am too lazy to do a full cleaning after each outing.

I am very happy with mine. Had it almost two years (my first firearm after I got licenced). I had a few misfeeds when breaking it in but after 400 rounds or so it has been rock solid. I've easily shot 4,000 rounds through the firearm by now. Easy to clean, plenty of parts support from Wolverine and feels very rugged. The factory 5 round magazines are lousy but the 10 round pistol magazines work perfectly if you can find any in stock! The keymod system is nice but keymod accessories can be difficult to find in Canada.

It is a fun rifle to shoot. Every time I go to the range there is a lot of interest from other shooters. I would definitely recommend one.

Yep a crowd sure forms when I bring mine out, especially when I bring my XCR adapted SKS and other full tarded goodies and fire those off first.

Modular awesomeness and at least the L models are non restricted as well.

XCR owners know how hot the gas block area gets when you are having fun, hence grip farther back.

Surprisingly no, I can still see clean rifling, and accuracy is only reduced *guestimate 15%. My recent shooting time is seriously diminished but I'll post some pics at 20k. Probably May or June.

depends on use, for hunting, the bigger caliber the better.
He's looking to do 100-200 yard plinking, on his own property... lucky.
