Really theres only one choice for total reliability, accuracy, range, reassuring comfort in ones hands with a No.9 bayonet fixed on the end, if one were to encounter threatening alien life forms close up,......it's the Enfield No4Mk2!

Last and best version of the worlds greatest battle rifle ever.


Once we have conquered all opposing life forms on our new planet, we can cut our enfield down and use it as a sporting rifle for any alien game animals we would need to bag for survival.

Most of those listed aren't 'battle rifles'. An AR, M14, RFB and XCR-M all in .308 are really the only true battle rifles available. Based solely on price, availability, and legal classification, I would vote M14 (of the Norinco variety).

.308 M1A type platform without a doubt

I have had my 11.5" CAR15 for years, as well as .22s, and a 12 guage.

So for close work the CAR15/M4, is light, handy, and can use .22 rimfire with a bolt/mag change out if low noise low powered ammo is required. But past 100 yards I pondered and pondered and no matter what I told myself about my beloved .223 the fact of the matter is a .223 will never come close to a .308 in range. Sure a .308 is heavier but if I ever lost my footing and landed on my CAR15 I would be more worried about damaging it over a poly stocked M1A.

Sold a .22 and my 12 gauge and now ordered a shorty M305 as if I need to nail something behind a small tree I think a 160 plus grains of FMJ is going to punch thru better then 55 to 68 grains.

So for a couple of extra pounds I will take a pick axe (M1A) over an ice pick (AR) if I had to choose only one.
