Like the title says, what (in your opinion) is the best source for 7.62x54R soft point (hunting) rounds (for my Mosin)?

I'd like to find a place with lots of variety, if possible, so I can try several brands (Wolf Gold, Barnaul, Brown Bear, S&B, Igman, etc.).

For example, does Epps carry a good variety?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure where you are? but many stores other than Wallymart and canadian tire will carry x54 soft points in PRVI and S&B. Most 150 and 180gr.

You might get a better response posting this in the Milsurp forum... Imo

From my investigation Marstar has the best deal going.

Marstars deal is for FMJ the OP wants SP.
Several dealers offer mulitple brands on 762x54
I think SFRC up top might have S&B, MFS and privi maybe.

You can order 7.62X54R from Frontier Firearms; they have two Brands MFS and S&B. If I'm not mistaken both are soft point. MFS are just under a $1/round and the S&B just over.

Thanks. I'm specifically not looking for milsurp ammo, despite the fact that it is a milsurp (red) rifle. Couldn't decide which forum would be best.

Thanks guys.

Yeah I found some of those at Frontier and SFRC... I'd just like to find a local (southern/central Ontario) shop where they have several to choose from. I am specifically interested in locating the Igman 150 gr. and the Wolf Gold (which are supposed to be the same thing as the Privi Partizan, according to this http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinAmmo024.htm

You may have to approach more than a single retailer for sourcing all those brands.

TradeexCanada.com (Montreal) carry three different brands.....

You won't go wrong with the 150gr Igman SP, I used it in my M44 last fall to drop a moose at 200yds, she sure was a shoulder thumper.:D Cheers.

Yeah, this is what I was thinking. The ballistics of the Igman are impressive. Glad to hear you took a moose with that ammo, as that is what I have in mind (eventually). The B&S seem like they'd be border-line for a moose at long range.

BTW, where did you get the Igmans?
