Where is Stag.....Colt.....HK.....Armalite???
And no Daniel Defense. ..LOL

Too bad you picked the Sig.

Take a CORE over a SIG.

This isn't a Poll for the best AR15. You justed wanted people to validate your choice.

simply, Sig 516 cant compete in a "whats best" poll, being in company with the other rifles you chose, because it hasn't been around long enough to have been put through its paces and earned a reputation like the others have....

Sure a Norinco, its like owning a Chevette instead of a Corvette.

The term "best" is entirely subjective. It doesn't matter what is king if it's entirely out of your price range. Someone may already have a large collection of rifles and simply wants something cheap to plink with to get into black rifles. Or the guy who maybe just wants the super performance and uber reliability of something high-end because he's only going to ever own that. Buy what you can afford and just enjoy it.

I've owned everything on that list at one point or another, and they're all in the same league.

I have not put any money down so I can always change my mind. I always want to hear opinions from you people with positive and constructive comments in regards to those rifles on the list. They are the only ones that I am considering getting, and I don't want to put all brands on the list to narrow my choice down. To those who have negative presumptions....well I just hit the ignore button cause just not worth my time.

I'd rather save up the little extra cash to buy a better firearm then cheap out on the lowest cost firearm. The OP's list isn't bad for moderately priced AR's in my opinion. However I do have a preference for Stag and Armalite rifles and depending on what model you buy they aren't that expensive. My last AR was a S&W M&P15 which was ok but nothing of significant interest or quality.

Fixed it for ya ;)

I'd vote KAC. I'd love a KAC (even more so with a Noveske VIS-3AK upper). But I'm building my first AR-15. Making it how I want it, buying the gun and then swapping out 80% of the parts.

They're all about the same man.
All these different brand names for the same design but the majority of parts and especially receivers all come from the same couple main manufacturers/machine shops.

AR15's are like smokers sticking to their brand of smokes because they swear they can "taste" the difference between DuMaurier and Players.....

If it costs more, most people assume they are better products which is mostly not the case when you're talking about an item that has a lot of "brands" but not so many actual producers.

Personally I just built my own. It was cheaper and that way I ended up with the exact rifle I wanted.

My A1 build.

DPMS lower
Milsurp A1 stock, grip, handguards and even an actual GI A1 upper.
DTI barrel.
DPMS guts

Total cost in for this rifle that functions flawlessly and is very accurate for an AR15? About $860:

I also owned and shot a Norinco 14.5" before I sold it to build my dream AR (I have a retro/milsurp problem lol), it was a little rough on the finish but it shot and functioned as good as any other AR I've ever shot, including Diemaco/Colts etc.

You have to ask what you really want in an AR15.

Do you want a really expensive toy that you are afraid to put a scratch on because it cost more than your education plus a kidney?

Or do you want a rifle you can shoot the 5hit out of, enjoy and not worry about smudging the custom gold leaf finish or whatever?

At the end of the day either way you go, with an AR15, you have a range toy that will only put holes in paper at an approved gun club......

Hope any of that helps cut through the grey :D

I voted knights armament. If I didn't already have my Daniel defense I would save the pennies for a KAC. I don't want to sound like a snob but unless you understand grades of steel, machining processes (such as cold hammer forging barrels) and everything else put into a quality AR15 you can't say with certainty what is best. People who say the best AR-15 maker is colt because its "Colt" get on my nerves. Just cause a gun has a the little pony on it doesn't mean that the gun shoots same hole groups and never malfunctions. Don't get me wrong though colt is a well put together gun but you can buy way better guns for the same price or slightly more. ...and yes I have owned colts before so I do speak from experience.

If I had the money, KAC, no hesitation - in fact if I won the lottery I'd have a lovely little rifle rack full of them. Value for money, all in (including initial quality, overall quality, warranty, support) Stag.
