What do you wear for Yote hunting

I personally Use an old over size green Canadian Forces Parka
for the lower body, I use some White pant that fits on top of my greyish winter pant...
And for the boots I never really cared about camo boots

It is military style outfit but surplus can be so cheap and so warm.

How about you

I wear whatver I want underneath for layers... depends on temperature and then I wear a cdn military surplus white nylon parka and pants I bought for 40 bucks.... and a baclava to hide my face.... and just regular Columbia winter boots

I use a cdn military surplus white over coat. Not sure what else to call it it is very thin and large enough to be pulled over any winter clothing. This winter you almost look out of place with white camo on.

Have done some reading on the matter and if you don't have full winter camo it was suggested that your top apparel be lighter than your bottoms.

I guess because this would mimic darker brush or log with snow on top.

I made my own winter camo with some krylon, Xmas tree branches and a Tyvex painters coverall. Haven't tried it out yet though, hopefully this weekend.

Do yourself a favor and run some wide tape inside to reinforce the crotch. Every tyvek i have ever ripped has been in the crotch. In the army they told us that in patchy snow you were best off with white pants and a darker top that broke up your outline. Say what you will about the CF they know about winter.

Camo clothing is nice but not really needed except for covering up your face, need to get the shine off. Movement not colour is the biggest thing (besides wind) to worry about. I once saw a video showing a guy coyote hunting in a red santa suit, just to prove camo was not needed...he ended up calling and shooting a coyote....that being said, I like to think my camo helps me so I always wear it...)

I agree and disagree.. There is a level at which they become alert to your presence... Try to stay under that and you are golden

When I posted about making the Tyvex suit mentioned above, someone posted up some links to a predator hunting magazine that had several articles on how Coyote's see and what camo was best.

They didn't do winter IIRC, just fall/spring type clothing.

Very interesting articles though.

I would think though that a Coyote Fur Coat should work wonders. :D

My normal winter clothes and a white bed sheet that I cut a whole in the center of and stitched a bit of a hood into, cost me 5 bucks does the trick!

The thing with yote hunting is that you tend to walk out to setups working up the heat. The set is very short within a 30 minutes so cooling down does not really happen to a point that you are froze in cold weather. I tend to use a Halley Hanson under layer with only a insulated jacket and bibs over and I still find it to warm when I get to the setup points. Summer or warmer weather the HH layers come off and I only use pants and long sleeve shirt and maybe a light jacket.

Camo to me is important because I don't ware a mask at all and I still blend in for a shot at most times. Never had a yote yet take off that I could not get a shot on in one way or another.

The game I play I tend to walk alot and that is a difference in what I can use for the clothing needed...

Another neet idea is "QuakerBoy Game Calls" sell a throw over camo Gilly style ponco in winter camo and brown camo that works great. You can put in in your pocket or attach it to the back of your vest....
