I would like to just walk into a club and try shooting Skeet/Trap/Sporting Clay, whatevers around. I have a 12 Gauge Pump and if I like the sport(which im positive I will) I'll join the club. I see these clay throwing gadgets at Lebarons, do people strickly use those at clubs?... or are there places where one can just find an open field somewhere and go to TOWN on clay? lol Excuse my newbness. +)

I am interested in this topic too. I've looked around and it seems that Oshawa skeet and gun is the main place to be around Toronto. They also have a rifle range and apparently recently a handgun facility.

Hamilton gun club is a bit further out and seems to have similar facilities for trap/skeet. No rifles or handguns, though.

Toronto International Trap and Skeet in Cookstown also is a fully equipped trap and skeet club. No rifles or handguns.

My impression is that the only way to go in and fire some rounds at any of these without being a member is to come as the guest of a member, or as a student.

I'm a newb too, and would welcome further info from more experienced gun nutz. Right now I am seriously thinking of joining Oshawa, partially because they are closest to me, partially because they allow rifles and guns too.

I am a member of Oshawa & also Barrie.

For someone in Toronto I would suggest Oshawa. It is closer and is a really nice club, as also is Barrie.
Oshawa has trap, skeet, rifle ( 100,200 & 300 ) and handgun. Oshawa membership fees are for a family .

PM me if you want more info on either club.

From my experience fromnearly 20 years, Galt Sporstman has the best situation with the least amount of elitist attitude! They have handgun, rifle, trap, skeet and sporting clays. And, I am not even from the area!:welcome: There is less politicks there than any other club in the region! We will not discuss the illegaly unsanctioned shoots held by a certain club! There are a good number of clubs in the area that have sporting clays. They all have some challenging targets. Visit each one before choosing.

Off to shoot the Italian FITASC Championship and the Euro in France,

Being from the west I am not familiar with your politicks. Without mentioning the club,,,,what do you mean by illegaly unsanctioned shoots? More to the point, what makes them illegal?

Follow the linky and click on clubs...I don't know how often it's updated...but it gives you a real good idea what's out there, where it is and usually the contact info for the club.

Interesting that you choose not to discuss it at your favorite club but seem willing to bring up the subject here!

Your suggestion that you will not discuss the politcks of a clubs presumed activities yet you are quite willing to interject a personal opinion!: Makes me Mad: I find it difficult to believe that if there is a functional organization who sanctions events such as you allude to, that there would exist much possibility of conducting " illegally unsanctioned shoots". If such a posibility does exist and you are so adament against it, perhaps you could display your passion and apparent expertise and organize them for us to enjoy.

From my personal perspective I applaud any club and the members of that club who host shoots for my enjoyment. Please remember this is wonderful recreation for all of us. Please don't try to diminish it by being petty.

Both Sharon Gun Club & Oshawa Skeet & Gun Club have 300 yard rifle ranges.

If my memory is correct Aurora Gun Club has an indoor 25 yard range.
