I am thinking of building a 10/22 shorty.

I am looking for opinions on what would be the best collapsable stock system that would work with a 12 inch barrel. I have noticed that the only folding collapsable system I can find is the ATI strike force...Does anyone have any good to say about these stocks?

Also wondering about OAL in rimfires, if I still have to stay over 26 inches to be non restricted.

Thanks for your help guys

I have one. They're pretty flimsy. Shoot with a sling and you'll be bending it enough to contact the barrel.
I did stiffen it and space the top cover higher at the same time. It does have one nice advantage, you can install another hold down screw into the rear of the receiver that's completely invisible.
They come with an angled adapter so you can use the factory iron sights or a low mounted scope, or take the adapter off and have a straight stock with a high scope.
Comes with a decent adjustable cheek riser as well.
Pretty sure you'll have to be careful with barrel length.

The Butler Creek folder is great, really sturdy and locks open and closed.

You will be restricted with the short barrel though. I believe mine is 27" folded, with an 18.5 barrel.

I believe the fellas with the SR-22 versions of the 10/22 can install a 12.5" barrel and when the AR style stock is fully collapsed it is just over the 26" mark.

A previous 10/22 build that I did using a 12.5" barrel was about 31" OAL with a traditional (non-telescoping or folding) stock.

Like A-Smith, I had a Butler Creek folder as well once, and with the factory 18.5" barrel it is just an inch past the 26" OAL.

I doubt you would be able to install a shorter barrel on a folder and keep it non-restricted.

I looked at the Tapco version and felt it's to clunky, held the ATI 10/22 at Shot, it feels nicer than the Tapco stuff and looks better, can't comment beyond that.

The Marauder/Nomad kit, folded, is 27 1/4" long overall, with the stock Ruger 18 1/2" barrel. So, you couldn't instal a barrel shorter than, say, 17 1/4" without going restricted.

As for a folder for use with a 12" barrel, I don't think you can get there from here with a folding stock and a 12" barrel in N/R, unless the butt of the stock was verrrrry long, say, 6" longer than the common ones available. Picture holding the rifle in a Weaver stance, with the butt against your shoulder. You'd have to use a pistol scope as an optic!!

I think you'll be limited to either a folding stock or a short barrel, but not both. Too bad, too, because that would be cooool.
