Best concealed carry gun

That should be a moot point, if you're going to carry you should be going to the range to practice on a regular basis and that will cycle out your ammo.
I agree it should be a moot point but you hear about so many people with CC permits that basically don't even know how to shoot a gun! They figure a gun is a magic wand that if displayed will make the bad guys go away. Then there are the guys who practice with cheap ammo and carry the good stuff for real. They may be stuffing the same rounds back into their guns over and over after practicing with the cheap or low powered stuff.

Toss up between my Springfield Mil Spec or my 4.5" Smith 29-2. Both are reliable, and I'm comfortable with either. Weight isn't really a factor, I wear a full leather tool belt with all the paraphenalia for 12+ hrs a day. A full size 1911 on my hip is a cake walk in comparison. I have a Milt Sparks iwb for the Springfield, comfortable and like its not even there. No holster for the Smith, but an owb rig would probably be more suited for its cylinder girth.

No real desire or need to carry in everyday activities since I live in the city, but it would be nice to have the option of strapping one on for bush carry.

Couldn't agree more.

Well I've always said a 686 4.2". Mainly cuz I'm a revolver guy. It's deadly accurate too.
I just recently got my first polymer pistol a walther PPQ. I'm thinking that would be a good choice too. It's also surprisingly very accurate. First two shots I took with that pistol were touching. Nearly dropped it I was so surprised. Lol.
I've often wondered about the keltec pmr-30. It's very lightweight. I know it's only .22 magnum. But if mag restrictions were lifted. It holds 30 rounds of .22 mag. Just the shear amount of shots you could take would have to make an assailant think twice. Thinking it would be perfect for a woman for self defense. Light, low recoil and lots of chances to hit target:)

Read just about anything regarding them and the weak link is poor magazines. Thirty rounds is a lot for a mostly polymer pistol to take care of. Supposedly the mag lips are easily damaged beyond repair.
Notice this passing fad of the 30 round capacity 22 WMR pistol has died without even a whimper in the USA??

Your choice in revolvers is pretty darn superior though. ;)

If I'm choosing from my current stock then probably my M&P.40 cal or my Jericho compact 9mm depending on my mood.
For winter time though wearing heavier clothes I'd love to carry my 4.2" 686 .357 mag.

Back in the early 80s we used to hold snubbie matches in Kelowna. Actually just a local IPSC match in which some of us shot both .45 auto followed up with .38 snubbies. Fun. fun, fun. Anywho. We would practice on a swinging steel IPCS man size target at 25 yds. from consealed carry. Legal then. Found it reasonablt easy to shoot this target at the top for a different tone from hitting it at the bottom with my S&W Model 60 snubbie. Defenitely concealable and accurate with 158 grainers. I'd recommend that for easy CC.

Colt Cobra in .38 spl, good enuff for detectives and if I need more than 6 .38 spl,, my choice of gun is not the first mistake I made!!! The purpose is NOT to hold off an army,, just dissuade one or two morons,,,,

Cool
do a bunch of practice before carrying the MRDS - it takes a while to rapidly get used to picking up the dot.

Definitely. It's not quite as easy to pick up as I had hoped but it is pretty tiny so I should have expected that.

Glock 26 / 27 with factory night sights
Glock 30S / 36 with factory night sights

The .45 ACP in a concealed IWB holster with double mag pouch on belt also.

The sub-compact G26/G27 in an ankle holster as backup.

All ammo Maximum weight +P+ JHP ammo.

Best you can have....

Several ammo companies have ammunition specifically designed for short barrel guns now.
While I use 124gr +P bonded for my duty/carry gun - I use a short barrel Gold Dot in my Shield -- as most duty ammo was design for a 4" barrel - and powderburn (and bullet performance) was not designed for the short guns.

You're telling me. It's taken me hundreds of draws/presentations and about a thousand rounds before it started being faster than irons to pick up.
